1 - Como você começou a banda?
O Chasing Apparitions originalmente começou como um projeto solo sozinho (Josey Stines), mas com o passar do tempo percebi que não podia fazer tudo sozinho. Eu encontrei Jacob Ortengren através das mídias sociais e escrevemos o EP “Am I Worth Saving?”.
Chegamos ao estúdio para gravar as músicas para que pudéssemos testar alguns vocalistas quando nosso produtor, Jonathan Dolese, nos fez conhecer Justin Stubbs. Clicamos instantaneamente.


2 - O momento atual pode ser considerado o melhor da banda?
Eu diria que, neste momento, esta é a melhor aparição de perseguição que já existiu. Todos nós estamos na mesma página, tanto no lado da música quanto do lado comercial, e todos entendemos a ética do trabalho necessária para fazer esse trabalho.
O Chasing Apparitions tem muitos planos para avançar.


3 - O que você diria sobre sonoridade? Onde mais você se encaixa nas influências adquiridas?
Nossas influências variam de vários gêneros. Mais notavelmente, se você é fã de Born of Osiris, Architects, Fit for a King, Bad Omens, Wage War . Eu sinto que você vai adorar o que Chasing Apparitions tem a oferecer.


4 - Falando em processo de criação, quanto se pensa antes de criar novo material? Existe um plano ou você deixa as idéias fluírem naturalmente?
Para Chasing Apparitions, existem 2 etapas no nosso processo de escrita. Normalmente, eu escrevo uma progressão de riff ou acorde e vou enviá-lo para Jacob para que ele pense sobre isso. Enviaremos o arquivo para frente e para trás até que estejamos satisfeitos.

Em seguida, enviarei o arquivo para Justin e nos sentamos e discutimos para onde queremos ir liricamente e qual será o tema.


5 - Você já pensou em tocar aqui na América do Sul? O público no Brasil é muito apaixonado por música!
Eu adoraria ter a chance de tocar na América do Sul. Eu precisaria verificar as análises em nossas plataformas de streaming para tentar descobrir quais cidades seriam as melhores para executar, mas adoraria experimentar outra cultura.


6 - Sabemos que o mercado da música não é mais o mesmo ... O que é preciso para se manter atualizado e relevante?
O mercado da música mudou drasticamente com as várias plataformas de streaming, todas lutando pela atenção do consumidor. Eu diria que a melhor coisa agora para as bandas permanecerem relevantes é o lançamento consistente de novas músicas.
Uma música por mês, se possível, seria melhor.

O tempo de atenção das pessoas é extremamente curto, considerando a quantidade de anúncios e outras coisas sendo lançadas diariamente.


7 - Você gosta da ideia de lançar vídeos em formato de letra?
Sinto que existe uma hierarquia para o lançamento de vídeos para uma banda. O cachorro principal sempre será um videoclipe, seguido de um vídeo de letra e, finalmente, um vídeo de stream. Eu pessoalmente amo vídeos de letras, acho que exige que as pessoas prestem atenção ao que estão ouvindo, porque também estão lendo enquanto estão ouvindo.


8 - Terminamos aqui, o espaço é seu…
Chasing Apparitions tem um novo single lançado em 8.7.2020, intitulado "L'appel Du Vide", e estará disponível em todas as plataformas de streaming após o lançamento. 1 - How did you start the band?
Chasing Apparitions originally started as a solo project by myself (Josey Stines) , but as time went on I realized that I couldn’t do everything alone. I found Jacob Ortengren through social media & we wrote the EP “Am I Worth Saving?”.

We hit the studio to record the songs so we could audition some vocalists when our producer, Jonathan Dolese, had us meet Justin Stubbs. We clicked instantly.


2 - Can the current moment be considered the best of the band?
I would say at this moment, this is the best Chasing Apparitions has ever been. All four of us are on the same page as far as the music side & the business side & we all understand the work ethic needed to make this work. Chasing Apparitions has a lot of plans moving forward.


3 - What would you say about sonority? Where else do you fit into the acquired influences?
Our influences range from various genres. Most notably if you’re a fan of Born of Osiris, Architects, Fit for a King, Bad Omens, Wage War, etc.

I feel like you’ll come to love what Chasing Apparitions has to offer.


4 - Speaking of the creation process, how much thought is there before creating new material? Is there a plan or do you let ideas flow naturally?
For Chasing Apparitions there’s 2 steps to our writing process. Typically I’ll write a riff or chord progression & I’ll send it over to Jacob to get his thoughts on it.

We’ll send the file back & forth until we’re happy with it. Next I’ll send the file over to Justin & we’ll sit down & discuss where we want to go lyrically & what the theme will be.


5 - Have you ever thought of playing here in South America? Audiences in Brazil are very passionate about music!
I would love to have the chance to play in South America. I would have to check the analytics on our streaming platforms to try & figure out which cities would be the best to perform, but I’d love to experience another culture.


6 - We know that the music market is no longer the same ... What does it take to stay fresh and relevant?
The music market has changed drastically with the various streaming platforms all fighting for the consumer’s attention. I would say the best thing right now for bands to stay relevant is to consistently release new music.

One song a month if possible would be best. People’s attention spans are extremely short considering the amount of ads & other things being thrown at them on a daily basis.


7 - Do you like the idea of releasing videos in lyric format?
I feel like there’s a hierarchy for releasing videos for a band. The top dog will always be a music video, followed by a lyric video, then lastly a stream video.

I personally love lyric videos, I think it requires people to actually pay attention to what they’re listening to because they’re also reading as they’re listening.

Chasing Apparitions has a new single dropping on 8.7.2020 titled “L’appel Du Vide” & will be available on all streaming platforms upon release.

1 - Como você começou a banda?
Tendo nascido com um braço, escolhi perversamente o violão como minha arma na vida. Primeiro, porém vieram as músicas. Desde certa idade, ouvi e absorvei tanto a música que comecei a ouvir minhas próprias músicas na minha cabeça antes que eu pudesse tocar um instrumento.

Não foi até a adolescência que eu encontrei uma maneira de tocar violão com um braço, usando o polegar para dedilhar e me preocupar com qualquer outro dígito. Eu formei uma banda de rock com 20 e poucos anos e, durante um período de 20 anos, com diferentes formações, escrevi e toquei músicas de rock e pop quase sendo contratadas várias vezes.

Eventualmente, eu decidi pular do vagão da banda (por assim dizer) e fui solo e acústico - tocando baladas e blues localmente, onde conheci os caras que não compõem minha banda de blues.

Eu tenho tocado em shows e festivais locais e internacionalmente desde que solo e com a minha banda. Sempre foi sobre as músicas e escrevê-las, apresentando-as e realizando-as.


2 - O momento atual pode ser considerado o melhor da banda?
Eu diria que, dadas as restrições do bloqueio do Covid, o momento atual definitivamente não é o melhor momento para a banda ou para mim como artista.
No entanto, eu acabei de lançar um single solo "Lost Love in a Day" através da Animal Farm Music, então eu obviamente estou incrivelmente empolgado com isso, e isso compensou por não ser capaz de sair e tocar ao vivo.


3 - O que você diria sobre sonoridade? Onde mais você se encaixa nas influências adquiridas?
Eu acho importante soar bem para parecer profissional e, para todos os efeitos, original.
Sou influenciado por uma ampla e variada extensão de influências, mas tento traduzir o sentimento que sinto ao ouvir e absorver essas influências através da minha música. É como pregar o evangelho que estou tentando transmitir a alegria que sinto ao ouvir músicas que me influenciam a outras pessoas através da minha música.


4 - Falando em processo de criação, quanto se pensa antes de criar novo material? Existe um plano ou você deixa as idéias fluírem naturalmente?
Definitivamente, deixei as idéias fluírem naturalmente. A inspiração vem quando eu estou mexendo no violão e geralmente recebo toda a música para uma música completa de uma só vez - verso, refrão, letra, talvez até oito no meio! Depois, cantarei as letras em cima da ideia. Se for bom o suficiente, trabalharei mais nas letras, mas muitas vezes metade da música estará lá desde a primeira dose de inspiração.


5 - Você já pensou em tocar aqui na América do Sul? O público no Brasil é muito apaixonado por música!
Eu adoraria tocar na América do Sul. Os caras são famosos por sua paixão pela música e por se divertir e se divertir. Minhas músicas raramente são baseadas em latim, mas meus blues e pop sempre caem bem com uma multidão ao vivo. Eu toquei solo em vários locais internacionais, incluindo Kosovo e Romênia, e sempre consegui impressionar as multidões e fazer fãs por lá.

Não particularmente, sinto formatos líricos, enquanto trazer criativo não transmite a honestidade, emoção e charme que ver alguém cantando e tocando pode.
Um videoclipe é um meio de retratar e promover sua música e uma forma de arte. Apesar de ter seus usos, sacrificar isso por vídeos de formato lírico simples não me agrada

1 - How did you start the band?
Having been born with one arm I perversely chose the guitar as my weapon in life. First, however came the songs. From an early age I listened to, and absorbed, music so much so that I began hearing my own songs in my head way before I could play an instrument.

It wasn’t until my teens that I found a way of playing the guitar with one arm using my thumb to strum and fretting with any other willing digit. I formed a rock band in my early 20s, and over a period of 20 years with different line ups I wrote and played heavy rock and pop songs almost getting signed several times.

Eventually, I decided to jump off the band wagon (so to speak) and went solo and acoustic - playing ballads and blues songs locally where I met the guys who no make up my blues band. I’ve been playing local gigs and festivals as well as internationally ever since both solo and with my the band. It’s always been about the songs and writing them then performing and realising them.


2 - Can the current moment be considered the best of the band?
I would say that given the restrictions of the Covid lockdown that the current moment is definitely not the best time for the band or myself as an artist. However, I have just released a solo single “Lost Love in a Day” through Animal Farm Music so I am obviously incredibly excited about that, and it makes up for not being able to go out and play live.


3 - What would you say about sonority? Where else do you fit into the acquired influences?
I think it’s important to sound good to sound professional and, to all intents and purposes, original. I’m influenced by a wide and varied expanse of influences but I try to translate the feeling I get from listening and absorbing these influences through my music. It’s a bit like preaching the gospel I’m trying to pass on the joy I get through listening to songs that influence me to other people through my music.


4 - Speaking of creation process, how much thought is there before creating new material? Is there a plan or do you let ideas flow naturally?
I definitely let ideas flow naturally.  Inspiration comes when I am noodling on the guitar and I will often get all of the music for a complete song in one go - verse ,chorus, lyrics, maybe even a middle 8!

Then I’ll just sing lyrics over the idea off the top of my head. If it’s good enough I’ll work more on the lyrics, but often half the song will be there straight off from that first dollop of inspiration.


5 - Have you ever thought of playing here in South America? Audiences in Brazil are very passionate about music!
I would love to play in South America The guys there are notorious for their passion about music and their love of having fun and partying. My songs are rarely Latin based but my blues and pop songs always go down well with a live crowd. I have played solo at numerous international locations including Kosovo and Romania and have always managed to impress the crowds and make fans there.


6 - We know that the music market is no longer the same ... what does it take to stay fresh and relevant?
Being true to your music and true to yourself is vital. Pretension will only fool or sway for a limited time.

If you believe in your music and your artistry this will show in your songs and how you present them.
You also need the two ‘E’s - Ears and Empathy, you need to hear what people are listening to and feel what people need from a song.


7 - Do you like the idea of releasing videos in lyric format?
Not particularly, I feel lyric formats whilst bring creative do not convey the honesty, emotion and charm that seeing someone sing and perform can.
A music video is a means of portraying and promoting your song and an art form itself. Whilst having their uses, to sacrifice this for simple lyric form videos does not appeal to me

A história da banda remonta a 2012, quando Mariano plantou a primeira semente. A banda original era formada por pessoas de diferentes nacionalidades, e foi chamada Dialekt por esse motivo.


2 - O momento atual pode ser considerado o melhor da banda?
100%. A formação atual registrou o melhor material, fez os maiores shows e temos muito mais fluxo em termos de composição e criação de ideias. Ainda há algum polimento a fazer, mas ninguém é perfeito, hein


3 - O que você diria sobre sonoridade? Onde mais você se encaixa nas influências adquiridas?
Temos tantas influências diferentes entre nós que é difícil dizer exatamente onde nos encaixamos com todos os outros. Temos alguns sons Nu Metal dos anos 90, alguns tons atuais de metalcore, alguns hard rock regulares. Uma de nossas faixas mais recentes apresenta um tipo de som muito dance através do refrão, seguido por riffs pesados ​​e profundos.


4 - Falando em processo de criação, quanto se pensa antes de criar novo material? Existe um plano ou você deixa as idéias fluírem naturalmente?
Na maioria das vezes, Mariano traz uma idéia para a mesa e escreveremos em torno dela, ajustando as coisas aqui e ali. Trabalhamos em seções, garantindo que cada parte seja aprendida antes de prosseguir.

Você precisa estar fazendo algo novo. Você não quer soar como todo mundo ou vai se perder no meio do tumulto antes que alguém o ouça.

Já lançamos dois até agora. Queremos ouvir vocês gritando, então continuaremos a lançá-los. Uma ou duas de nossas faixas são muito poderosas na letra, então sentimos que é importante que as pessoas saibam quais são as palavras.

The history of the band stretches as far back as 2012 when Mariano planted the first seed. The original band was made up of people from different nationalities, and was called Dialekt for that reason.

100%. The current lineup has recorded the best material, played the biggest gigs, and we have a lot more flow in terms of writing and putting ideas together. There's still some polishing to do but nobody's perfect eh


3 - What would you say about sonority? Where else do you fit into the acquired influences?
We have so many different influences between us that it's hard to say exactly where we fit in with everyone else. We have some very 90s Nu Metal sounds, some current metalcore tones, some regular hard rock.

One of our latest tracks features a very dancey kind of sound through the chorus followed by deep, heavy riffs.


4 - Speaking of creation process, how much thought is there before creating new material? Is there a plan or do you let ideas flow naturally?
Most of the time Mariano will bring an idea to the table and we'll write around it, tweaking things here and there. We work in sections, making sure each part is learned before moving on. It's an open forum so once a track is initially finished, we'll talk with eachother and suggest changes and tweaks


5 - Have you ever thought of playing here in South America? Audiences in Brazil are very passionate about music!
Absolutely! We've heard about the passion for music that bands can expect from the Americas and the hospitality isn't that bad either


6 - We know that the music market is no longer the same ... what does it take to stay fresh and relevant?
You need to be doing something new. You don't want to sound like everyone else or you'll get lost in the melee before anyone hears of you. Have your own take on the styles you like and people will listen


7 - Do you like the idea of releasing videos in lyric format?
We've released two so far. We want to hear you guys screaming along so we'll continue to release them.
One or two of our tracks are very powerful lyrically so we feel it's important for people to know what the words are.

Eu e Wallaby tocamos jam acústico no Infinity Books Japan em Tóquio.
Um dia, quando tocamos jam com Nogi na livraria, tivemos um bom pressentimento, então formamos uma banda em 2018.


2 - O momento atual pode ser considerado o melhor da banda?
Sim! Mas podemos ser uma boa banda mais, porque não somos jovens, mas nossa banda ainda é jovem.


3 - O que você diria sobre sonoridade? Onde mais você se encaixa nas influências adquiridas?
Meu estilo de composição é o rock dos anos 90, 2000 e 70. E sobre o som da banda, anseio pelo som da fita analógica.
Então, eu estou pensando em tentar fazer o velho estilo skool.


4 - Falando em processo de criação, quanto se pensa antes de criar novo material? Existe um plano ou você deixa as idéias fluírem naturalmente?
Sempre muitas idéias fluindo naturalmente na minha cabeça.
Escrever é como um quebra-cabeça para mim.


5 - Você já pensou em tocar aqui na América do Sul? O público no Brasil é muito apaixonado por música!
Sim, estou muito interessado na América do Sul!
Então, eu ficaria feliz se muitas pessoas pudessem me conhecer nesta entrevista.

Sim, eu sei que o carnaval e samba é apaixonado, o mesmo carnaval existe no Japão!


6 - Sabemos que o mercado da música não é mais o mesmo ... o que é preciso para se manter atualizado e relevante?
Não sei o que devo fazer, apenas procuramos originalidade e fazemos músicas enquanto desfrutamos.


7 - Você gosta da ideia de lançar vídeos em formato de letra?
Sim eu gosto. Eu vejo muito esse vídeo no Youtube.
Não temos vídeo oficial, então queremos tentar fazer um vídeo em breve.

Yes! But we can be a good band more.
Because we are not young, But our band is young yet.


3 - What would you say about sonority? Where else do you fit into the acquired influences?
My songwriting style is 90's, 2000's rock and 70's rock.
And about band sound, I yearn for analog tape sound.
So I'm thinking I will try to make old skool style.

Always many ideas flowing naturally in my head.

I don't know what should I do, We just looking for originality and make songs while enjoying.

1 - Como você começou a banda?
"É uma longa história de amor (risos), mas, para resumir, começamos a fazer música juntos na escola, anos atrás. Começou com concertos em nossa cidade natal para Vince (baterista da banda) e eu (vocalista / guitarrista da banda). Mas sempre quisemos fazer uma turnê por toda parte. E foi aqui que nossas primeiras turnês européias chegaram à nossa história… Antes da turnê nos EUA, deveríamos fazer em 2020 ”


2 - O momento atual pode ser considerado o melhor da banda?
"Na verdade, é ao mesmo tempo um momento muito ruim por causa da situação em todo o mundo; portanto, todas as nossas turnês são canceladas ou remarcadas. Mas, por outro lado, estamos trabalhando em coisas nas quais nunca temos tempo para trabalhar quando estamos em turnê! ”


3 - O que você diria sobre sonoridade? Onde mais você se encaixa nas influências adquiridas?
“Acho que temos composições muito cativantes e um som de rock pessoal. Também interagimos muito com o público durante um show, e isso cria uma atmosfera e conexão muito únicas! ””


4 - Falando em processo de criação, quanto se pensa antes de criar novo material? Existe um plano ou você deixa as idéias fluírem naturalmente?
“Eu sou o compositor da banda. As músicas que escrevo podem falar de um momento muito simples em nossa vida cotidiana (um de nosso último single “Hope” foi escrito na frente de um belo pôr do sol na Espanha, foi apenas um momento perfeito e simples que eu queria compartilhar), e às vezes me aprofundo em emoções diferentes, para escrever sobre momentos difíceis, mas também sobre o mundo em que vivemos.

A conexão entre pessoas e tecnologia na vida cotidiana, o fato de dedicar tempo para fazer as coisas hoje é quase um sonho, tudo é instantâneo.
Não levamos mais tempo adequadamente. Mas, mais recentemente, escrevo muito sobre o futuro e nossa existência neste futuro possível. Quero escrever sobre benevolência e pensamentos positivos para amanhã. Nada está planejado quando eu componho ... ”



5 - Você já pensou em tocar aqui na América do Sul? O público no Brasil é muito apaixonado por música!
"Claro!! Gostaríamos muito de ir !! Pode ser incrível, sabemos que vocês têm um público bonito e um rock !! Então, assim que pudermos, adoraríamos fazer uma turnê na América do Sul !! ”



6 - Sabemos que o mercado da música não é mais o mesmo ... o que é preciso para se manter atualizado e relevante?
“Acho que, mais do que nunca, você precisa ser criativo, inovar para obter exposição e criar uma comunidade em torno de sua música. Também a imagem da banda é bastante importante hoje.
Hoje a música é muito ouvida com os olhos !! ”


7 - Você gosta da ideia de lançar vídeos em formato de letra?
"Sim, quero dizer, desta maneira, todos podem entender a música corretamente!"

“Na verdade, estamos trabalhando em nosso próximo álbum (acho que será lançado este ano). E também reagendamos nossa turnê européia e americana em 2021… Lançamos 2 novos singles, você pode ouvi-los abaixo.

1 - How did you start the band?
“It’s a long story of love ahah, but to cut it short, we started to make music together at school, years ago.
It began with concerts in our hometown for Vince (drummer of the band) and I (Lead-singer / Guitarist of the band). But we always wanted to tour everywhere.

And this is where our 1st european tours arrived in our story… Before the US tour we were supposed to give in 2020”


2 - Can the current moment be considered the best of the band?
“Actually, it’s at the same time a very bad moment because of the situation worldwide, so all our tours are cancelled or rescheduled. But, on the other hand, we are working on things we never have the time to work on when we are touring a lot!”


3 - What would you say about sonority? Where else do you fit into the acquired influences?
“I think that we do have very catchy compositions, and a real personal rock sound. We also interact a lot with the audience during a show, and it’s creating a very unique atmosphere & connection!””


4 - Speaking of creation process, how much thought is there before creating new material? Is there a plan or do you let ideas flow naturally?
“I am the songwriter of the band. The songs I write can talk of a very simple moment in our daily life (one of our last single “Hope” has been written in front of a beautiful sunset in Spain, it was just a perfect and simple moment I wanted to share), and sometimes I go deeper in different emotions, to write about tough moments but also about the world we’re living in.

The connection between people and technology in the daily life, the fact that taking the time to do things today is almost a dream, everything is about instant. We don’t properly take time anymore. But more recently, I write a lot about the future and our existence in this possible future, I want to write about benevolence and positive thoughts for tomorrow. Nothing is planned at all when I compose…”


5 - Have you ever thought of playing here in South America? Audiences in Brazil are very passionate about music!
“Of course!! We would love to!! It could be amazing, we know that you guys have a beautiful audience, and a rock one!! So as soon as we can we would love to tour in South America!!”


6 - We know that the music market is no longer the same ... what does it take to stay fresh and relevant?
“I think that more than ever you have to be creative, you have to innovate in order to get exposure, to build a community around your music. Also the image of the band is quite important today.
Music is a lot listened with the eyes today!!”


7 - Do you like the idea of releasing videos in lyric format?
“Yes, I mean in this way everyone can understand the song properly!”

1 - Como você começou a banda?
A banda começou originalmente pelo nosso guitarrista / vocalista Elvis no Brasil em 2014. Depois de gravar o primeiro álbum, 'Origins', ele se mudou para a Irlanda e reformou a banda para gravar 'Vaporizer' e 'Mankind Maze'.


2 - O momento atual pode ser considerado o melhor da banda?
Ah, com certeza, nunca estivemos tão focados antes. Esperamos ansiosamente muitas músicas novas para gravar e tocar ao vivo. Tudo parece tão fresco na banda, é uma pena que o mundo esteja passando por essa situação do vírus corona.


3 - O que você diria sobre sonoridade? Onde mais você se encaixa nas influências adquiridas?
A maioria de nossas músicas é fortemente influenciada pelo Black Sabbath, mas tentamos incrementar diferentes elementos de qualquer tipo de música (ou seja, música do mundo) em nosso som.
Eu acho que é o que torna nossa música única.


4 - Falando em processo de criação, quanto se pensa antes de criar novo material? Existe um plano ou você deixa as idéias fluírem naturalmente?
Tudo acontece naturalmente, se forçarmos a saída de idéias, a mente bloqueia a criatividade imediatamente. Quando você está tocando ou mesmo não fazendo nada com a mente vazia, a criatividade flui. Não tente escrever uma música, deixe a música se escrever.


5 - Você já pensou em tocar aqui na América do Sul? O público no Brasil é muito apaixonado por música!
Sim, definitivamente, Elvis vem do Brasil, então essa é uma ideia que vem automaticamente à nossa mente. Nós apenas temos que esperar pela oportunidade certa, mas mais cedo ou mais tarde isso acontecerá!


6 - Sabemos que o mercado da música não é mais o mesmo ... o que é preciso para se manter atualizado e relevante?
Sinceridade e entrega. Não há limites para a profundidade da melodia se você se sentir tocado em todas as notas que toca ou canta.


7 - Você gosta da ideia de lançar vídeos em formato de letra?
Gostamos da ideia, é uma maneira interativa de as pessoas lembrarem-se das letras e prepará-las para cantar nos shows. Nós nunca fizemos isso.

1 - How did you start the band?
The band originally started by our guitarist/vocalist Elvis in Brazil in 2014. After recording the first album, 'Origins', he moved to Ireland and reformed the band to record 'Vaporizer' and 'Mankind Maze'.

Most of our songs are heavily influenced by Black Sabbath but we try to increment different elements of any kind of music (i.e world music) to our sound. I guess is what makes our music unique.


4 - Speaking of creation process, how much thought is there before creating new material? Is there a plan or do you let ideas flow naturally?
Everything comes naturally, if we force ideas to come out the mind blocks the creativity straight away. When you’re just jamming or even doing nothing with an empty mind creativity just flows through. Don’t try writing a song, let the song writes itself.


5 - Have you ever thought of playing here in South America? Audiences in Brazil are very passionate about music!
Yeah definitely, Elvis comes from Brazil so that’s an idea that comes automatically to our minds. We just have to wait for the right opportunity, but soon or later it will happen!


6 - We know that the music market is no longer the same ... what does it take to stay fresh and relevant?
Sincerity and surrender. There’s no limits on how deep you can get into the melody if you put feeling into every note you play or sing.


7 - Do you like the idea of releasing videos in lyric format?
We do like the idea, it’s a interative way for people to remember the lyrics and have them ready to sing in the gigs. We never did though.


8 - We finish here, the space is yours …

We're currently working on an album which we're hoping to release towards the end of the year.

1 - Como você começou a banda?
Franz: SCHULTZ é um projeto solo nascido em 2002 no sul da França, que se tornou uma dupla com a artista feminina VDREY durante vários anos e uma banda real desde 2018 com a chegada de Guitarfox (guitarra e vocais) e Sandy Dynamite (performance de dança ao vivo). e vocais).

Guitarfox: Franz nos pediu para nos juntarmos a ele como banda de apoio para um show no Industrial Music Fest em Cannes (Riviera Francesa) em 2017.
Era para ser uma tentativa, mas correu bem… Então, Sandy e eu ainda estamos no projeto hoje ...


2 - O momento atual pode ser considerado o melhor da banda?

3 - O que você diria sobre sonoridade? Onde mais você se encaixa nas influências adquiridas?
Franz: Podemos retomar como Metal Industrial, mas não apenas. Nossa música é um cruzamento de muitas coisas, do experimental ao EBM, do industrial ao Punk e muitas outras influências.

Guitarfox: Dark Electronics com guitarras de metal… Mas se você gosta de fórmulas curtas, chame de Industrial Voodoo! ri muito


4 - Falando em processo de criação, quanto se pensa antes de criar novo material? Existe um plano ou você deixa as idéias fluírem naturalmente?
Franz: Não temos um processo real, quando um membro tem uma idéia, conversamos sobre isso juntos e, se todos concordam, trabalhamos nele. Geralmente faço as partes beat e synth, mas desta vez também escrevi a letra de duas faixas: Black out e Devil Inside Me.

Guitarfox: Franz me envia seus instrumentais, eu coloco as partes da guitarra e, se isso me faz inspirar algumas letras, vamos lá! Na verdade, somos alimentados pela necessidade de criar música e tocar, como músicos.


5 - Você já pensou em tocar aqui na América do Sul? O público no Brasil é muito apaixonado por música!
Franz: Não, infelizmente, nunca tivemos essa oportunidade ... No passado, quando eu estava tocando com o VDREY, recebíamos um festival em Tijuana, mas duas semanas antes, o festival foi cancelado. Desde então, ninguém nos contatou novamente para a América do Sul. Mas se alguém quiser propor, de nada!

Guitarfox: Se a proposta vale a pena, por que não?


6 - Sabemos que o mercado da música não é mais o mesmo ... o que é preciso para se manter atualizado e relevante?
Franz: Tentamos fazer o possível para seguir os novos hábitos dos fãs de música. Essa é uma das razões pelas quais mudamos nossa gravadora, a última foi muito nos “velhos hábitos de consumo”.

Com o lançamento do Black Magic Party, pela primeira vez, publicamos todas as músicas antigas e novas em todas as plataformas de streaming digital, trabalhando em mais merchandising, mas sempre fornecendo CDs para os aficionados por música. Tentamos seguir a onda dos novos hábitos dos fãs de música.

Guitarfox: As maneiras de fazer música evoluem de uma época para outra ao mesmo tempo que a evolução da tecnologia. 1 - How did you start the band?
Franz : SCHULTZ is a solo project born in 2002 in South of France.It became a duo with the female performer VDREY during several years and a real band since 2018 with the arrival of Guitarfox (Guitar and vocals) and Sandy Dynamite (Live dance performance and vocals).

Guitarfox : Franz asked us to join him as a backing band for one gig at the Industrial Music Fest in Cannes (French Riviera) in 2017. It was meant to be a one shot, but it went well… So Sandy and I are still in the project today…

Franz : Yes, I think, we have just release our new video and new album Black Magic Party this month, we are working on lot of things for the next months.

Guitarfox : No, I think, because the best is always to come !


3 - What would you say about sonority? Where else do you fit into the acquired influences?
Franz : We can resume it as Industrial Metal but not only. Our music is a crossover of lot of things from experimental to EBM, from industrial to Punk and a lot of other influences.

Guitarfox : Dark Electronics with metal guitars… But if you like short formulas, call it Industrial Voodoo ! LOL


4 - Speaking of creation process, how much thought is there before creating new material? Is there a plan or do you let ideas flow naturally?
Franz : We have no real process, when a member has an idea, we talk about it together and if everybody agrees, we work on it. Usually I do the beat and synth parts, but this time I also wrote the lyrics for two tracks : Black out, and Devil Inside Me.

Guitarfox : Franz sends me his instrumentals, I put the guitar parts on it, and if it inspires me some lyrics, let’s go then ! In fact we’re just fed by the need to create music and play, as musicians.


5 - Have you ever thought of playing here in South America? Audiences in Brazil are very passionate about music!
Franz : No, we never have this opportunity, unfortunately... In the past, when I was playing with VDREY, we’ve been booked in a fest in Tijuana, but 2 weeks before, the festival has been cancelled. Since then, nobody contacted us again for South America. But if somebody wants to propose it, you are welcome!

Guitarfox : If the proposal is worth it, why not?


6 - We know that the music market is no longer the same... what does it take to stay fresh and relevant?
Franz : We try to do our best to follow the new music fans habits. It s one of the reasons we have changed our music label, the last one was too much in “old consumption habits”.

With the release of Black Magic Party, for the first time, we have published all past and new music on all digital streaming platforms, working on more merchandising,  but always providing CDs for the music afficionados. We try to follow the wave of the new music fans  habits.

Guitarfox : The ways of making music evolves from one era to another at the same time as the evolution of technology. For example, at the time of the vinyl record, you had to say everything in a very limited time.

After that came the CD, with much longer running time capacity, so you had to fill, and put more unnecessary materials, hence a quality of composition often diminished. Then later came the MP3 and the streaming, still a new deal again, which marks the end of styles classifiable by record stores, you can now mix everything and anything, from black metal with bavarian java to Mashups... If the Beatles appeared today, they would surely not have the same success as in the 60's.

Now with the coronavirus crisis, the era of online confined concerts is appearing... Times are changing, and so is music. To keep it exciting, you just have to remember the primary message of rock'n'roll, which is… F**k Authority !

Guitarfox : Yes, of course ! Sometimes the lyrics are just incomprehensible (especially in black and death metal LOL), so it can help…

Franz : We have subtitled our last video “Rats in the sewers” for the first time, because we thought the message was enough important to be understood this time.

1. Como você começou a banda?
Max (baixo / vocais) basicamente fundou a banda, pois queria trazer de volta o punkrock para o povo.
Ele perguntou a Dominik (bateria) enquanto fazia uma festa na cidade e durante os dias seguintes eles formaram uma banda, chamada "Scumbag"!

A formação mudou muito com o tempo, até Alex (Guitarra) falar com Max em sua cidade natal.
Conversamos muito sobre rock e no dia seguinte, ele era nosso novo guitarrista!

Nossa banda foi finalmente nomeada após o show de Woodstock em 1994, nossos ídolos do Green Day, que terminaram em uma luta de lama!


2. O momento atual pode ser considerado o melhor da banda?
Sim definitivamente! Podemos dizer que nossa banda melhora a cada dia!


3. O que você diria sobre sonoridade? Onde mais você se encaixa nas influências adquiridas?
Nosso som é influenciado por muitas bandas.
No geral, vemos nosso estilo de som e música como uma mistura entre Green Day, Nirvana, AC / DC, Ramones e Blink-182!


4. Falando em processo de criação, quanto pensamento existe antes de criar novos materiais? Existe um plano ou você deixa as idéias fluírem naturalmente?
Pessoalmente, pensamos muito em nossas idéias, no entanto, às vezes, existem músicas que chegam até nós por conta própria! Por exemplo: Max escreveu a letra de "Dry Mouth" e para a nova faixa-título "Safe Zone" em dois minutos!

As músicas inteiras saíram da cabeça dele!


5. Você já pensou em tocar aqui na América do Sul? O público no Brasil é muito apaixonado por música!
Não por agora realmente haha. Começamos a tocar como banda há um ano e não pensamos em chegar ao ponto em que estamos agora! A América do Sul seria incrível, mas no momento não temos ouvintes por lá. Talvez no futuro!


6. Sabemos que o mercado da música não é mais o mesmo ... o que é preciso para se manter atualizado e relevante?
Diríamos que um dos aspectos mais importantes é ser você mesmo e não tentar copiar alguém! Claro, você pode e talvez também deva ser influenciado por outros artistas ou outras pessoas, mas você tem que permanecer em quem você é!

Como somos uma banda, é mais fácil para nós: Dominik é um típico baterista punk, Alex é nosso Angus Young e Max provavelmente seria nossa versão de Billie Joe Armstrong!

Mas, no entanto, permanecemos fiéis a nós mesmos!


7. Você gosta da ideia de lançar vídeos em formato de letra?
Oh sim, nós fazemos! Max é um grande fã desse tipo criativo de vídeos de letras, que também contêm outros recursos visuais, como os vídeos mais freqüentes do Green Day! (Bang Bang, muito burro para morrer, Sugar Youth ...)

1. How did you start the band?
Max (Bass/Vocals) basically founded the band, as he wanted to bring back punkrock to the people.
He asked Dominik (Drums) while partying in town and during the next days they formed a band, first called „Scumbag“!

The lineup changed a lot over time until Alex (Guitar) addressed Max in their hometown.
We talked a lot about rock music and the next day, he was our new guitarist!

Our band was finally named after the Woodstock 1994 show our idols of Green Day´s, which ended in a massive mudfight!


2. Can the current moment be considered the best of the band?
Yes definitely! We can say, that our band gets better every day!


3. What would you say about sonority? Where else do you fit into the acquired influences?
Our sound is influenced by many bands. All in all, we see our sound and song style as a mix between Green Day, Nirvana, AC/DC, Ramones and Blink-182!


4. Speaking of creation process, how much thought is there before creating new material? Is there a plan or do you let ideas flow naturally?
Personally we think a lot about our ideas, however sometimes there are songs that just come to us on their own! For example: Max wrote the lyrics for „Dry Mouth“ and for the new title track „Safe Zone“ in two minutes!

The whole songs came straight out of his head!


5. Have you ever thought of playing here in South America? Audiences in Brazil are
very passionate about music!
Not really haha. We started playing as a band about one year ago and have not thought of coming to the point where we are now! South America would be awesome, but at the moment we do not have any listeners there. Maybe in the future!


6. We know that the music market is no longer the same ... what does it take to stay fresh and relevant?
We would say, that one of the most important aspects is to be yourself, and not trying to copy someone!

Of course, you can and maybe also should be influenced by other artists or other people, but you have to stay who you are!

Since we are a band, it is easier for us: Dominik is a typical punk drummer, Alex is our Angus Young and Max probably would be our version of Billie Joe Armstrong!
But nevertheless, we stay true to ourselves!


7. Do you like the idea of releasing videos in lyric format?
OH YES, we do! Max is a big fan of that creative type of lyric videos, which contain other visuals as well, like the most frequent Green Day videos! (Bang Bang, Too Dumb To Die, Sugar Youth…)

We are working on releasing a creative lyric video for our upcoming release! Stay tuned!

1 - Como você começou a banda?
Eu estava escrevendo muito e estava participando de 6 ou 7 demos, mas não tinha uma banda para colocá-los, eu estava apenas fazendo alguns trabalhos de sessão.

Comecei o projeto sem nome e, quando Alex (Bowden, Guitars) se mudou de Brighton para Londres, perto de Londres, começamos a aprender as faixas que eu havia escrito e a elaborá-las em um setlist apropriado.
Então, começou como um projeto individual, eu estava escrevendo, tocando todos os instrumentos e fazendo toda a arte e design que é produtivo, mas bastante fechado. Jonny é um animal reverenciado localmente na bateria, então tê-lo participando foi uma grande vitória.

Arthur (Bass) se juntou no início deste ano e ele realmente se interessou pelo ingrediente que faltava, o show ao vivo será completamente elevado quando voltarmos a dançar.


2 - O momento atual pode ser considerado o melhor da banda?
Acho que sim, temos uma formação sólida pela primeira vez. Todo mundo está investido e quer se esforçar, é a primeira vez que a banda se sente assim. No passado, era sempre como travar uma batalha perdida, lutando para que todas as engrenagens se encaixassem.

Temos um material novo com o qual realmente nos empolgamos e um EP que será finalizado assim que as medidas de bloqueio diminuírem por aqui.


3 - O que você diria sobre sonoridade? Onde mais você se encaixa nas influências adquiridas?
Eu acho que todos nós ouvimos um espectro de música amplo o suficiente para que as influências simplesmente espiem suas cabeças. Esforço-me para sempre escrever o que está na minha cabeça e tento não parecer muito mais nada; As comparações sempre serão feitas, mas é assim que o cérebro humano funciona. O som da banda tem elementos de grunge, alternativa, post rock, shoegaze, stoner / desert rock e até alguns elementos cinematográficos. É um grande caldeirão.


4 - Falando em processo de criação, quanto se pensa antes de criar novo material? Existe um plano ou você deixa as idéias fluírem naturalmente?
Eu praticamente escrevo constantemente, tenho inúmeras notas de voz de melodias ou frases, geralmente tenho uma moleskine comigo para rabiscar frases ou observações aleatórias, e tenho um pequeno estúdio em casa para poder demonstrar idéias rapidamente.

As idéias de um momento específico geralmente têm temas em execução, mas não são intencionais.
O fluxo natural é a melhor maneira, a mais orgânica.
Se você tentar forçar a criatividade, ela empurra de volta.


5 - Você já pensou em tocar aqui na América do Sul? O público no Brasil é muito apaixonado por música!
Nós adoraríamos. O show do Nirvana Rio foi uma parte seminal da minha educação musical, as multidões ali sempre parecem loucas em vídeo.

Tem uma ótima banda chamada Violet Soda que é rad, arvorando a bandeira do violão. Quem sabe, poderíamos fazer um show com eles um dia!


6 - Sabemos que o mercado da música não é mais o mesmo ... o que é preciso para se manter atualizado e relevante?
É difícil apontar um dedo, pois muitos artistas e pessoas em geral confiam no "conteúdo" para serem interessantes e talvez esse seja o caminho do mundo. Para mim, a música sempre deve ser a atração, esse é o número um, com certeza. Eu não suporto toda a reprodução da câmera e coisas assim. Seja original e trabalhe duro.


7 - Você gosta da ideia de lançar vídeos em formato de letra?
Sim, o nosso single 'Ladybird' tem um vídeo com letras, mas ainda mais sobre o visual. Nosso amigo Tom Sharp nos fez esse vídeo animado de letras de viagem e acabou exatamente como eu imaginava. Vídeos de todos os tipos podem ser interessantes ou muito monótonos, não diria que é um modelo definido para um ou outro.

Through the partnership with Stencil PR we bring you another opportunity to present a good band.

This time we talked to Frontman and composer Ernie, from the band Bison Face.

1 - How did you start the band?
I’d been writing a lot and was sitting on about 6 or 7 rough demos but didn’t have a band to put them into, I’d just been doing some session jobs. I started the project with no name to begin with and when Alex (Bowden, Guitars) moved back up to near London from Brighton, we started learning the tracks I’d written and crafting it into a proper setlist together.

So, it started as a one-man project, I was writing, playing all the instruments and doing all the artwork and design which is productive but pretty closed off. Jonny is a locally revered beast on the drums, so having him join was a huge win. Arthur (Bass) joined earlier this year and he really locked in the missing ingredient, the live show will be completely elevated once we’re back to gigging.


2 - Can the current moment be considered the best of the band?
I think so, we’ve got a solid line-up for the first time. Everyone is invested and wants to put effort in, it’s the first time the band has ever felt like that. In the past it was always like fighting a losing battle, struggling to get all the cogs to fit together.

We’ve got some new material that we’re really stoked on and an EP that will be finished once the lockdown measures ease up over here.


3 - What would you say about sonority? Where else do you fit into the acquired influences?
I think we all listen to a broad enough spectrum of music that the influences pretty much just peek their heads out. I strive to always write what’s in my head and try not to sound like anything else too much; Comparisons will always be drawn, but that’s just the way the human brain works.

The band’s sound has got elements of grunge, alternative, post rock, shoegaze, stoner/desert rock and even some cinematic elements. It’s a big melting pot.


4 - Speaking of creation process, how much thought is there before creating new material? Is there a plan or do you let ideas flow naturally?
I pretty much write constantly, I have countless voice notes of melodies or phrases, I usually have a moleskine with me to scribble random utterances or observations, and I’ve got a small studio setup at home so I can demo ideas quickly. Ideas from a specific time all usually have running themes, but it is unintentional.

Naturally flowing is the best way, the most organic.
If you try and force creativity then it pushes back.


5 - Have you ever thought of playing here in South America? Audiences in Brazil are very passionate about music!
We would absolutely love to. The Nirvana Rio show was a seminal part of my musical upbringing, the crowds over there always looks insane on video. There’s a great band over there called Violet Soda who are rad, flying the flag for guitar music.
Who knows, we could play a show with them one day!


6 - We know that the music market is no longer the same ... what does it take to stay fresh and relevant?
It’s a difficult one to pin a finger on, so many artists and people in general rely on “content” to be interesting and maybe that’s the way of the world.

For me, the music should always be the pull, that’s number one for sure. I can’t stand all the playing up to the camera and stuff like that. Just be original and work hard.


7 - Do you like the idea of releasing videos in lyric format?
Yeah, our single ‘Ladybird’ has a lyric video along with it, but it was still more about the visuals along with it. Our friend Tom Sharp made us this trippy animated lyric video and it turned out exactly how I imagined it. Videos of all sort can be interesting or very dull, I wouldn’t say it’s a set model for either or.

1 - Como você começou a banda?
Bem, nos conhecemos por volta de 2012 e começamos a fazer algumas músicas juntos em 2014, mas não éramos uma banda até renomearmos em 2016 o que hoje conhecemos como Sentinel Complex.

Começamos fazendo música e sfx para projetos aleatórios de jogos e filmes independentes e, lentamente, conseguimos entender as coisas, e depois acabamos dizendo "poderíamos fazer isso por uma banda que você conhece" um para o outro e agora estamos aqui!


2 - O momento atual pode ser considerado o melhor da banda?
Na verdade, existem duas, a primeira delas quando lançamos nosso primeiro EP, “Systematic Decadence”. Lançar música globalmente era algo que nunca pensávamos que seriamos capazes de fazer, então ver algo que tínhamos escrito no Spotify foi um grande momento para nós!

O outro momento aconteceu recentemente, na verdade, quando vencemos um concurso de remix para um de nossos artistas favoritos, Swarm. Isso será lançado em breve, então fique de olho nisso!


3 - O que você diria sobre sonoridade? Onde mais você se encaixa nas influências adquiridas?
Tentamos manter nosso som dentro de dois gêneros principais, que são cyberpunk e horror. Essas são as nossas duas maiores influências e usamos muitas imagens e temas sombrios para criar algo que realmente somos nós. Por isso, nossas músicas podem variar entre ser principalmente metal, ser mais industrial / eletrônico ou em algum lugar entre elas! Cada música é única, gostamos de manter as pessoas atentas!


4 - Falando em processo de criação, quanto se pensa antes de criar novo material? Existe um plano ou você deixa as idéias fluírem naturalmente?
Jamie: Honestamente, na maioria das vezes, muitas das idéias que temos são espontâneas, por acaso temos muitas! Quando se trata do processo, nós dois escrevemos toda a história e geralmente segue o caminho de um de nós ter uma idéia que será trazida para o outro, e então nós dois nos sentaremos e veremos onde queremos a ideia de ir.

Em algum momento, geralmente me sento com o resultado final e o levo o mais longe que posso.
Eventualmente, terminaremos com a final com a qual estamos felizes, e não lançaremos nada até estarmos completamente satisfeitos com ela!


5 - Você já pensou em tocar aqui na América do Sul? O público no Brasil é muito apaixonado por música!
Claro! Se chegarmos a um tamanho em que possamos fazer turnês em outros países, o Brasil certamente será um grito divertido.


6 - Sabemos que o mercado da música não é mais o mesmo ... o que é preciso para se manter atualizado e relevante?
A indústria da música definitivamente não é mais o que costumava ser, e é definitivamente mais importante agora, em nossa opinião, para as bandas criarem uma identidade on-line e realmente criarem uma marca fora de si. É até questionável se as etiquetas ainda são necessárias, para que a banda tenha realmente a liberdade de ser criativa e se destacar no espaço on-line.


7 - Você gosta da ideia de lançar vídeos em formato de letra?
Josh: Para nós, os vídeos das letras são uma maneira seriamente eficiente de divulgarmos nossas músicas. Já que somos apenas nós dois, é fácil o suficiente e dá à música um elemento visual interessante para realmente adicionar à criação como um todo. Estou aprendendo a produzi-los há alguns anos e isso significa que consigo extrair idéias de filmes de terror antigos e coisas assim que eu amo.

1 - How did you start the band?
Well we met sometime around 2012 and we started making some music together 2014, but we weren’t really a band until we re-branded in 2016 to what we now know as Sentinel Complex. We started out doing music and sfx for random indie game and film projects and slowly got a grip for things, and then eventually just said “we could do this for a band you know” to each other and now we are here!


2 - Can the current moment be considered the best of the band?
There are two really, the first one being when we released our first EP “Systematic Decadence”. Releasing music globally was something we never thought we would actually be able to do, so to see something we had written be up on Spotify was a huge moment for us! The other moment happened recently actually, as we won a remix competition for one of our favourite artists, Swarm. That will be coming out soon so keep your eyes peeled for that!


3 - What would you say about sonority? Where else do you fit into the acquired influences?
We try to keep our sound within two main genres, which are cyberpunk and horror. Those are our two biggest influences and we use a lot of dark imagery and themes to create something which is truly us. Because of this, our songs can vary between being mainly metal, being more industrial/electronic, or somewhere in between! Every song is unique, we like to keep people on their toes!


4 - Speaking of creation process, how much thought is there before creating new material? Is there a plan or do you let ideas flow naturally?
Jamie: Honestly most of the time a lot of the ideas we have are spontaneous, we just happen to have a lot of them! When it comes to the process, we both do all of the writing and it usually goes the way of one of us will have an idea which will then be brought to the other, and then we’ll both sit down and see where we want the idea to go.

At some point I’ll usually sit down with the end result and take it as far as I can go with it. Eventually we’ll end up with the final which we are both happy with, and we won’t release anything until we are both completely satisfied with it!


5 - Have you ever thought of playing here in South America? Audiences in Brazil are very passionate about music!
Of course! If we ever get to a size where we could tour in other countries, Brazil would certainly be a fun shout.


6 - We know that the music market is no longer the same ... what does it take to stay fresh and relevant?
The music industry is definitely not what it used to be, and it is definitely more important now in our opinion for bands to build an identity online and really make a brand out of themselves.

It’s even questionable whether labels are even needed any more, so band really have the freedom to get creative and make themselves stand out in the online space.


7 - Do you like the idea of releasing videos in lyric format?
Josh: For us, lyric videos are a seriously efficient way for us to get videos out for our songs. Since it is just the two of us, it is easy enough to pull off and it gives a song an interesting visual element to really add to the creation as a whole. I’ve been learning how to make them for a couple years now and it means I get to pull ideas from old horror movies and stuff like that that I love.

1 - Como você começou a banda?
Ei, obrigado por nos receber!

Na verdade, começou com Stefan e eu (Fabian) reunidos em uma banda chamada "In Arcane".
Nós precisávamos de uma posição no baixo e Stefan foi convidado a fazer o trabalho. Eu nem me lembro de como nos aproximamos dele. Depois de perguntar a Stefan se ele queria se juntar à banda em tempo integral, ele recusou, mas como eu sempre quis fazer outro projeto que não fosse necessariamente metalcore, pedi a ele que talvez iniciasse um projeto juntos.

Começamos a fazer uma banda chamada "Depart" com um velho amigo de Stefan chamado Max, que se tornou nosso baterista. Depois de alguns anos escrevendo e fazendo turnês, decidimos que "Depart" não era nosso estilo nos próximos anos, então tivemos uma mudança de formação com a mudança de cantores e a adição de um guitarrista para formar "Emerra".


2 - O momento atual pode ser considerado o melhor da banda?
Na verdade, com toda a crise da Covid, estamos investindo muito do nosso tempo e esforço na promoção de nossa banda. Conseguimos alcançar mais pessoas do que nunca com nossa música, por isso estamos totalmente entusiasmados com isso e continuaremos investindo tudo o que pudermos.

Nós adoraríamos! Eu assisti muitos shows online de shows na América do Sul, e as pessoas sempre parecem loucas! Eu me sinto na Europa, concertos para algumas pessoas parecem um evento regular.
As pessoas gostam de beber uma cerveja e ficam atrás, em vez de ir para a frente e ficar mentalmente.

É o que faço o tempo todo em shows. Se conseguirmos chegar a um ponto de nossa carreira, certamente faremos uma visita!


6 - Sabemos que o mercado da música não é mais o mesmo ... o que é preciso para se manter atualizado e relevante?
Tentamos não pensar muito no mercado da música. Gostamos de criar música, que nós mesmos gostaríamos de ouvir e tentar alcançar pessoas que desejam compartilhar isso conosco. É importante para nós, que não sigamos nenhum "hype", "aparência" ou "cena", mas deixemos a música falar por nós.

Também não queremos copiar nenhuma característica de banda ou gênero. Às vezes somos influenciados por algo de um gênero totalmente diferente, mas sempre tentamos trazer nossas próprias mentes para ele.


7 - Você gosta da ideia de lançar vídeos em formato de letra?
Nós gostamos da idéia de sublinhar as letras em geral, mas pessoalmente eu gosto mais de vídeos musicais regulares.

1 - How did you start the band?
Hey, thanks for having us!

Actually it started out with Stefan and Me (Fabian) meeting in a band called „In Arcane“. We needed a stand in bassist and Stefan was asked to do the job. I don’t even remember how we approached him. After asking Stefan if he wanted to join the band full-time he declined, but since I always wanted to do another project that wasn’t necessarily metalcore I asked him to maybe start a project together. We started doing a band called „Depart“ with an old friend of Stefan called Max, who became our drummer. After a few years of writing and touring we decided, that „Depart“ wasn’t our style for the years to come so we had a lineup change with switching singers and adding a guitarist to form „Emerra“.


2 - Can the current moment be considered the best of the band?
Actually, with the whole Covid crisis we are investing a lot of our time and effort in promoting our band. We were able to reach more people than ever before with our music, so we are totally stoked about this and we’ll continue investing everything we can.


3 - What would you say about sonority? Where else do you fit into the acquired influences?
Our sound can be described as dynamic and versatile. Our soundscape offers heavy riffs and breakdowns as well as clean, atmospheric parts. We try to keep the vocals clean, since we think it offers much more depth to our songs, but we also have scream vocals.  Lets say you’d mix bands such as Karnivool, Nothing More and Northlane. We could fit somewhere in there I guess.


4 - Speaking of creation process, how much thought is there before creating new material? Is there a plan or do you let ideas flow naturally?
Max our drummer, and I live nearby. We’re also both audio nerds. So we are doing songwriting and demoing already inside a production atmosphere.

We write lots and lots of ideas, and only the ones that we love stick around to make it to the next week.
We try to upkeep a mentality, where we as a band need to want to show the songs to people when they are finished, without feeling the urge to apologize for any aspect of it.


5 - Have you ever thought of playing here in South America? Audiences in Brazil are very passionate about music!
We would love to! I have watched lots of concerts online from shows in South America, and the people seem to always go crazy!  I feel like in Europe, concerts to some people feel like a regular event. People enjoy drinking a beer and stand in the back rather than go to the front and go mental. Which is what I do all the time going to concerts. If we can make it at one point in our career, we will certainly pay you a visit!


6 - We know that the music market is no longer the same ... what does it take to stay fresh and relevant?
We try not to think about the music market to much. We love to create music, that we ourselves would love to listen to and try to reach people who want to share that with us.  Its important to us, that we don’t follow any „hype“, „look“ or „scene“, but instead let the music speak for us. Also we don’t want to copy any band or genre characteristic. Sometimes we get influenced by something from a totally different genre, but we always try to bring our own minds into it.


7 - Do you like the idea of releasing videos in lyric format?
We like the idea of underlining lyrics in general, but personally I like regular music videos more.

1 - Como você começou a banda?
Simon e eu começamos com a idéia de fazer uma banda extrema moderna. Então, cada um de nós trouxe um cantor em nosso segundo ensaio - Ludwig teve rosnados fortes, guinchos de porco e outros ruídos desagradáveis ​​enquanto o outro, Yozii estava cheio de gritos ensurdecedores. Então combinamos os dois elementos vocais e usamos o grindcore da velha escola com o death moderno, pedaços de groove metal.


2 - O momento atual pode ser considerado o melhor da banda?

Como somos uma banda de 5 peças, nossas influências variam muito uma da outra. Mas, quando se trata de fazer música, compartilhamos a mesma visão - pesar, curtir. Temos uma forte mensagem lírica que trata de saúde mental, política, fome e ganância. Eu acho que isso facilmente relaciona muitos ouvintes.


4 - Falando em processo de criação, quanto se pensa antes de criar novo material? Existe um plano ou você deixa as idéias fluírem naturalmente?
Geralmente vem naturalmente, alguém traz uma ideia como um riff, batida de tambor, então nós apenas tocamos. Mês depois, voltamos a ele para melhorar alguns bits e lançar uma nova música haha.


5 - Você já pensou em tocar aqui na América do Sul? O público no Brasil é muito apaixonado por música!
Não é um segredo, sonhamos em viajar pelo mundo inteiro! Talvez possamos começar com o Brasil quando a pandemia terminar? Haha

Só me pergunto como os fãs de metal do Brasil são diferentes dos fãs europeus. Espero descobrir em breve!


6 - Sabemos que o mercado da música não é mais o mesmo ... o que é preciso para se manter atualizado e relevante?
É um segredo! Haha Mas piadas à parte, eu concordo, não é a mesma coisa e é muito mais difícil para as bandas. Vemos novas bandas, novos álbuns toda semana, então a competição é dura, precisamos constantemente pensar em uma maneira de permanecer original e manter a atenção de nossos fãs.

Check below the chat with the band Sacrificial Slabs:


1 - How did you start the band?
Simon and I started with the idea of making a modern extreme band. So each of us brought a singer on our second rehearsal-Ludwig had strong growls, pig squeals and other nasty noises whilst the other, Yozii was full on deafening screams. So we combined both vocal elements and then used old school grindcore with modern death, groove metal bits.


2 - Can the current moment be considered the best of the band?
 Current situation (covid 19 pandemic) is not good for any band I guess, but it is a good time to be creative! We released a video for a song ,,Violent Revolution'' to reflect current state of the band, so everyone can check  out the video on Sacrificial Slabs Instagram page.


3 - What would you say about sonority? Where else do you fit into the acquired influences?
As we are a 5 piece band, our influences vary a lot from each other. But when it comes to making music, we share same vision- go heavy, go groovy. Sacrificial Slabs has a strong lyrical message which is about mental health, politics, hunger and greed. I guess that easily relates too many listeners.


4 - Speaking of creation process, how much thought is there before creating new material? Is there a plan or do you let ideas flow naturally?
Usually it comes naturally, someone brings an idea like a riff, drum beat, then we just jam it out. Month later we come back to it to improve some bits, and boom- new hit song haha.


5 - Have you ever thought of playing here in South America? Audiences in Brazil are very passionate about music!
It is not a secret, we dream about touring the whole world! Maybe we can start with Brazil once the pandemic is over? Haha.
I just wonder how Brazil metal fans are different from European fan, hopefully we will find out soon!


6 - We know that the music market is no longer the same ... what does it take to stay fresh and relevant?
It's a secret! Haha. But jokes aside, I do agree, it's not the same and it's much tougher for bands. We see new bands, new albums every week so the competition is tough, we constantly need to think of a way how to stay original and keep the attention of our fans.


7 - Do you like the idea of releasing videos in lyric format?
Personally I prefer more story telling or live videos,  but for our singers, Edward and a Yozii, would be an interesting idea. Maybe we should try and see if people would enjoy it.
