Recentemente tive o prazer de conversar com a vocalista Nikolette Olsson da banda After Evolution, que está promovendo nos últimos meses o álbum "War of the Worlds", um excelente registro com boas doses de Symphonic Metal e Gothic.

1. Durante uma pandemia e todas essas restrições, foi um grande problema para o seu trabalho? Houveram muitas adaptações para chegar até aqui?
Nikolette - Não foi um grande problema para nossa banda, pois tivemos mudanças de line up antes da pandemia, então tivemos tempo suficiente para ensaiar as músicas, preparar tudo que precisávamos, terminar a arte do álbum, terminar a web e o merch, então nos pegou meio que muito tempo extra que precisávamos. Também começamos a trabalhar no próximo álbum, então tentamos nos manter ocupados com música durante a pandemia!
2. Eu os conheci no Facebook recentemente e logo fiquei curioso para conhecer o seu trabalho, me deparei com um álbum muito bom e músicos com ótimas referências com base no que ouvi. Como isso tudo começou? você deve ter muitas influências, certo?
Nikolette - Muito tempo antes de decidir que queria ser uma artista de metal sinfônico, eu queria ser compositora de música de cinema ou música de jogos.
Então minhas influências estão enraizadas em músicas orquestrais épicas como Audiomachine, Two steps from hell, Thomas Bergersen ou Hans Zimmer. Também me inspirei no Evanescence, Nightwish e Epica de uma forma que queria focar nesse gênero, gênero de música metal sinfônica, porque gosto da conexão entre orquestras e música metal. É simplesmente o incrível.
3. Falando sobre o álbum, "War of the Worlds" é ótimo, me surpreendi com a qualidade de produção e execução, vocês têm uma essência muito boa.
Quando você estava criando essas faixas, você tinha algum conceito em mente ou uma espécie de ideia fixa com o desenvolvimento das letras?
Nikolette - Muito obrigada! Estamos super felizes que você gosta disso! Antes de começar a compor o álbum, eu queria dar algum significado à minha banda. Algo mais do que apenas músicas aleatórias sobre temas básicos como amor, ódio, experiências de vida etc.
Então eu criei uma história inteira (também estou escrevendo um livro sobre) e decidi que cada música será mais um capítulo dessa história. Então, quando eu estava compondo as músicas, eu entrei no clima da parte da história e da música e tudo veio
4. O vídeo de "War of Worlds" tem uma essência linda, ideias interessantes... Vocês pretendem lançar mais vídeos como este?
Nikolette - Obrigada! Claro que nós faremos! Adoraríamos lançar videoclipes para cada música, é claro, mas com ideias que já tenho em mente, talvez seja melhor e mais fácil fazer um filme! :D Mas sim, o videoclipe está planejado e eu adoraria começar a trabalhar no clipe daqui a 6 meses!
5. A banda existe há pouco tempo e sei o quanto é complicado se manter no mercado musical hoje em dia, afinal, bandas aparecem no mundo todo e muitas não têm o devido valor. Você tem um apoio significativo em sua cidade? Você está conseguindo desenvolver planos para shows e divulgação do seu trabalho?
Nikolette - Ah sim isso mesmo. Existem muitas bandas e bastante talentosas que simplesmente não têm apoio suficiente, então elas simplesmente desaparecem com o tempo, o que é meio triste. Mas tivemos a sorte de poder assinar com a gravadora WormHoleDeath e não poderíamos desejar um gerente melhor. Eles realmente nos apoia, nos promove e tenta nos ajudar o máximo possível e nós realmente apreciamos isso para ser honesto, porque como eu já disse, há muitas bandas tentando chegar ao topo e precisamos lutar por isso também, então toda ajuda conta!
Também temos um grande apoio em nossa cidade natal, estávamos acostumados a tocar muito lá, mas infelizmente muitos clubes de música foram fechados durante a pandemia. Mas ficamos conhecidos porque tocamos muito em nossa cidade e as pessoas ainda nos apoiam muito, nos pediram álbuns e também nos disseram que estão ansiosos para nos ver tocar novamente!
Eles são os que nos viram no início, então, estamos muito gratos por esse apoio!
6. Você tem algum material para seus fãs comprarem, como camisetas e outros?
Nikolette - Ah sim claro! Nós carregamos o merch e a loja de música em nossos sites, então desde 28 de agosto de 2022 os fãs podem comprar qualquer merch que quiserem! Também estamos trabalhando em mais alguns projetos!
7. O álbum "War of the Worlds" está disponível em versão física apenas para o seu país ou é possível comprá-lo em qualquer lugar do mundo? Eu sei que streaming é ótimo e nos ajuda para resenhas e audições, mas o material físico ainda é objeto de desejo de muitos fãs e o rock é um dos poucos gêneros que ainda contempla isso, certo?
Nikolette - Sim, nosso álbum pode ser comprado em qualquer lugar do mundo, claro! Há apenas uma exceção para a República Tcheca e é quando há alguns fãs morando em nossa área, podemos dar a eles o álbum pessoalmente, então essa é a única diferença!
Mas sim, muitas pessoas nos perguntaram sobre a forma física do álbum, então você está certo! Muitos fãs do gênero rock e metal realmente apoiam as bandas com a compra de álbuns físicos e isso é realmente uma parte maravilhosa desta comunidade que eu amo e aprecio também!
8. O que você pensa para os próximos meses? Você tem algo específico? e eu sei que pode parecer cedo, mas para um próximo álbum, vocês pretendem manter os mesmos conceitos?
Nikolette - Estamos trabalhando na música para o próximo álbum e está quase pronto, só falta 1 música! Já compus os vocais e as orquestras, então agora é a vez da “banda”. Eles têm que terminar guitarras e bateria!
Também estou trabalhando em alguns visuais bem artísticos para a história da banda para poder fazer um pequeno vídeo animado. Mas sim, o conceito será o mesmo, ainda épico, ainda sinfônico e a história continuará em outro álbum - e novamente, cada música será outro capítulo da história!
9. Você conhece bandas brasileiras?e você pensa em um dia viajar para a América do Sul com sua banda?
Nikolette - Ah sim, claro, Sepultura! Eu os vi no festival Masters of Rock na República Tcheca este ano! Eles estavam ótimos! E sim, adoraríamos visitar o Brasil um dia! Queremos fazer uma turnê na América e por que não viajar para a América do Sul quando já estaríamos lá? Então sim, seria bom!

Recently the kind vocalist Nikolette Olsson talked to me about her band After Evolution, a few months ago the album "War of the Worlds" was released and we talked about some details.

1. During a pandemic and all these restrictions was a big problem during your work? Did you have many adaptations to get here?
Nikolette Olsson - It was not quite problem for our band, because we had line up changes before pandemic so we had enought time to rehearse the songs, prepare everything we needed, finish the art of the album, finish the web and merch, so it got us kinda a lot of extra time we needed.
Also we started to work on next album, so we tried to stay busy with music during the pandemic!
2. I met them on Facebook recently and soon I was curious to know their work, I came across a very good album and musicians with great references based on what I heard.
How did this all start? you must have a lot of influences, right?
Nikolette - Long time before I’ve decided I want to be a symphonic metal artist I wanted to be film music or game music composer. So my influences are rooted in epic orchestral music like Audiomachine, Two steps from hell, Thomas Bergersen or Hans Zimmer.
Also I got inspired by Evanescence, Nightwish or Epica as well in a way that I wanted to focus on this genre, symphonic metal music genre, because I like the connection between orchestras and metal music. It is just the amazing.
3. Talking about the album, "War of the Worlds" is great, I was surprised by the quality of production and execution, you guys have a very good essence.
When you were creating these tracks, did you have any concepts in mind or a kind of fixed idea with the development of the lyrics?
Nikolette - Thank you so much! We are super happy you like that! Before I’ve started with composing of the album, I wanted to give my band some meaning. Something more that just random songs about basic themes like love, hatred, life experiences etc. So I have created a whole story (I am also writing a book about) and I’ve decided that every song will be another chapter of that story.
So when I was composing the songs, I just got into the mood of the part of the story and the music and it all just came.
4. The "War of Worlds" video it has a beautiful essence, interesting ideas...
Do you plan to release more videos, like this?
Nikolette - Thank you! Of course we do! We would love to release videoclips for every single song of course but with ideas I have in my mind already it would be maybe better and easier to make it a film! :D But yeah, videoclip is planned and I would love to start with working on the clip latest in 6 months from now!
5. The band has been around for a short time and I know how complicated it is to maintain itself in the music market nowadays, after all, bands appear all over the world and many do not have the proper value.
Do you have significant support in your city? Are you managing to develop plans for concerts and promotion of your work?
Nikolette - Oh yeah that’s right. There is a lot of bands and quite talented which just don’t have enough of support so they just disappear with the time which is kinda sad.
But we were that lucky that we have been able to sign with WormHoleDeath label and we couldn’t wish for better manager. He really supports us, promote us and trying to help us as much as possible and we really appreciate it to be honest, because as I’ve already said, there is a lot of bands trying to reach the top and we need to fight for that too, so every help counts!
Also we have great support in out home town, we were used to play there a lot but unfortunately a lot of music clubs were closed during the pandemic.
But we got known because we’ve played a lot in our city and people still support us a lot, they asked us for albums and also told us they are looking forward to see us play again! They are the once who saw us at the very beggining so, we are really grateful for that support!
6. Do you have some materials for your fans to buy, like t-shirts and others?
Nikolette - Oh yeah of course! We have uploaded the merch and music store on our websites so since the 28th August 2022 are fans able to buy any merch they like! We are also working on some more designs!
7. The album "War of the Worlds" available in physical version only for your country or is it possible to buy it anywhere in the world? I know streaming is great and helps us for reviews and auditions, but the physical material is still a object of desire of many fans and rock is one of the few genres that still contemplates this, right?
Nikolette - Yes, our album is possible to buy anywhere in the worlds of course! There is only one exception for Czech republic and that’s when there are some fans living in our area we can give them the album in person so, that’s the only difference! But yeah, lot of people asked us about physical form of the album so you are right!
Lot of fans of rock and metal genre really support bands with buying of physical albums and that’s really wonderful part of this community which I love and appreciate as well!
8. What do you think for the next few months? Do you have anything specific? and I know it may seem early, but for an upcoming album, do you intend to keep the same concepts?
Nikolette - We are working on music for next album and it is almost ready, 1 song left only! I have already composed the vocals, and orchestras so now there is the “band’s” turn.
They have to finish guitars and drums! Also I am working on some very artistic visuals for the story of the band to be able to do some short animated video. But yeah, the concept will be same, still epic, still symphonic and the story will continue in another album - and again, every song will be another chapter of the story!
9. Do you know Brazilian bands? and if you think about one day traveling to South America with your band?
Nikolette - Oh yeah of course, Sepultura! I saw them on Masters of Rock festival in Czech republic this year! They were great! And yeah, we would love to visit Brazil one day! We want to have some tour in America and why not travel to south america when we would be already there? So yeah, it would be nice!
