Desta vez falamos com a banda Fatality.

1 - Como você começou a banda?
Fatality foi formada em 2016 por Josh Abbott (vocal), Gareth Brimley (guitarra) e o ex-baterista Chris Batson com nosso primeiro EP sendo lançado no mesmo ano.
Nós nos apresentamos no Asylum, um local lendário em Chelmsford para o lançamento e arrecadamos £ 200 para a instituição de caridade SNAP com as vendas de produtos e CDs.
Em 2017, recrutamos o baixista Matt Shynn e subsequentemente gravamos nosso segundo EP, que lançamos em 2019.
Fizemos uma pequena turnê do EP ‘Prey’ em auxílio do MIND e arrecadamos mais de £ 500 dessa vez.
Em novembro de 2019 nos separamos do baterista Chris e unimos forças com Jordan Maze, que agora completa nossa formação atual.
Desde seu recrutamento no final de 2019, escrevemos e apresentamos um novo conjunto de faixas com Jordan, bem como alguns originais do Fatality.
Fizemos nosso primeiro show com Jordan em uma transmissão ao vivo no verão de 2020.
2 - O momento atual pode ser considerado o melhor da banda?
Bem, diríamos que sim, além do fato de que não podemos fazer shows no Reino Unido no momento devido? para Covid. Definitivamente, estamos no nosso melhor em termos de composição.
Estamos todos muito felizes com a forma como estamos escrevendo e com nosso produto final. As coisas parecem estar fluindo muito bem com Jordan na bateria e estamos muito animados para trazer nosso novo material para o mundo.
3 - O que você diria sobre sonoridade?Em que outro lugar você se encaixa nas influências adquiridas?
Somos uma banda de Nu-Metal / Heavy Metal / Grunge.
Eu diria que pegamos influências de Nu-Metal, Metalcore, Heavy Metal e Hip-Hop, juntamos tudo e adicionamos um pouco de groove nisso. Então imagine a energia de mil sóis embalados em uma pequena caixa de tupperware.
Essa seria a melhor maneira de descrever o que fazemos. Para formar sua própria opinião, você deve ouvir nosso material.
Extraímos nossas influências de muitos caminhos diferentes. Musicalmente, algumas dessas seriam bandas como Lamb of God, Limpbizkit, Machine Head, Fear Factory, Papa Roach, Slipknot etc. No que diz respeito às influências não musicais, normalmente tiramos isso de eventos em nossas vidas que nos afetam diretamente ou coisas que fortemente acredite. Isso geralmente se traduz muito bem em performance, pois podemos transmitir nossa energia e emoção sobre cada música para o público.
4 - Falando em processo de criação, quanto pensamento existe antes de criar um novo material?Existe um plano ou você deixa as idéias fluírem naturalmente?
Todos nós escrevemos juntos e apenas deixamos a música fluir de verdade. Às vezes Gareth surge com um riff e nós apenas tocamos, às vezes Jordan toca uma batida ou Matt ou eu pensamos em algo. Mas, principalmente, simplesmente deixamos as ideias virem até nós naturalmente.
Sentimos que, se estivermos todos animados e apaixonados por cada instrumento e cada letra, estamos no nosso melhor. Estabelecemos a base de uma faixa, então avaliamos e refinamos junto com a escrita de letras que significam algo para nós. Fazemos todo o processo juntos como uma banda, ao invés de uma pessoa escrevendo uma faixa e o resto de nós tocando de uma forma que nem sempre complementaria nosso estilo individual de tocar.
5 - Você já pensou em tocar aqui na América do Sul?o público no Brasil é muito apaixonado por música!
Nós absolutamente adoraríamos! Ouvimos coisas muito boas sobre o público brasileiro e seria um prazer absoluto vir e tocar para vocês!
6 - Sabemos que o mercado da música não é mais o mesmo... o que é preciso para se manter atualizado e relevante?
Você tem que ser diferente. Faça coisas que ninguém mais está fazendo. Destaque-se na multidão. Seja com sua música, seu visual ou suas travessuras nas redes sociais. Apenas faça as pessoas notarem você.
7 - Você gosta da ideia de lançar vídeos em formato de letra?
Na verdade, nunca fizemos um vídeo com letra, mas acho que tem seus benefícios. Quem assistir poderá cantar as palavras certas junto com você nos shows haha!

Temos algumas faixas que estão prontas para serem lançadas e um monte de novo material que estamos constantemente trabalhando e aprimorando.
'The Lesson', 'Indemnify' e 'Eight' serão lançados nos próximos meses com a ideia de que iremos acumular essas e mais faixas em um 3º EP / Álbum no final do ano, pronto para quando a música ao vivo estiver de volta .

This time we spoke with the band Fatality.

1 - How did you start the band?
Fatality was formed in 2016 by Josh Abbott (vocals), Gareth Brimley (guitar) and ex-drummer Chris Batson with our first EP being released in the same year. We performed at Asylum, a legendary Chelmsford venue for the release and raised £200 for the SNAP charity from merch and CD sales.
In 2017 we recruited bassist Matt Shynn and subsequently recorded our second EP which we released in 2019.
We did a small tour of the ‘Prey’ EP in aid of MIND and raised over £500 this time. In November 2019 we parted ways with drummer Chris and joined forces with Jordan Maze who now completes our current lineup.
Since his recruitment in late 2019 we’ve written and performed a new set of tracks with Jordan as well as some Fatality originals. We played our first show with Jordan on a live stream in Summer 2020.
2 - Can the current moment be considered the best of the band?
Well we would say yes apart from the fact we can’t play shows in the UK at the moment due to Covid.
We’re definitely at our best in regards to songwriting.
We’re all so happy with the way we’re writing and our final product.
Things seem to be flowing really nicely with Jordan on the drums and we’re very excited to bring our new material out to the world.
3 - What would you say about sonority? Where else do you fit into the acquired influences
We’re a Nu-Metal/Heavy Metal/Grunge band. I’d say that we take influences from Nu-Metal, Metalcore, Heavy Metal and Hip-Hop, throw it all together and add a bit of groove in there. Then imagine the energy of a thousand suns packed into a small tupperware box.
That would be the best way I can describe what we do.
To form your own opinion you’d have to listen to our material. We draw our influences from loads of different avenues.
Musically some of those would be bands like Lamb of God, Limpbizkit, Machine Head, Fear Factory, Papa Roach, Slipknot etc. As far as non-musical influences go we usually draw that from events in our lives that directly affect us or things we strongly believe in.
This usually translates pretty well into performance as we can convey our energy and emotion about each song over to the audience.
4 - Speaking of creation process, how much thought is there before creating new material? Is there a plan or do you let ideas flow naturally?
We all write together and just let the music flow really. Sometimes Gareth will come up with a riff and we’ll just play off that, sometimes Jordan will play a beat or sometimes Matt or myself will think of something.
But mainly we just let ideas come to us naturally.
We feel that if we’re all excited and passionate about each instrument and each lyric then we’re at our best. We lay down the basis of a track, then we assess and refine along with writing lyrics that mean something to us.
We do the whole process together as a band, rather than one person writing a track and the rest of us playing it in a way that wouldn’t always necessarily compliment our individual playing style.
5 - Have you ever thought of playing here in South America? Audiences in Brazil are very passionate about music!
We would absolutely love to! We’ve heard really good things about Brazilian audiences and it would be an absolute pleasure to come and play for you guys!
6 - We know that the music market is no longer the same ... what does it take to stay fresh and relevant?
You have to be different. Do things that no-one else is doing. Make yourself stand out from the crowd. Whether that be with your music, your look or your antics on social media. Just make people notice you.
7 - Do you like the idea of releasing videos in lyric format?
We’ve never actually done a lyric video but I guess it has its benefits. Anyone that watches it will be able to sing the right words along with you at the shows haha!
8 - We finish here, the space is yours …
Thanks so much for the interview! We’d just like to let people know that we have new music in the works as always. We have a few tracks that are ready to be released and a load of new material that we’re constantly working on and refining.
’The Lesson’, ‘Indemnify’ and ‘Eight’ will be released over the next few months with the idea that we will accumulate these and more tracks into a 3rd EP/Album at the end of the year ready for when live music is back.
