Rock Vibrations Entrevista: Non Stop Erotic Cabaret

English Version:

In partnership with Rogue PR, we bring you one more interview, this time with the band Non Stop Erotic Cabaret.

Timmy Faith (TF) and Damo Devotion (DD) are Non Stop Erotic Cabaret, a musical duo from Yorkshire in the north of England, who make memorable, danceable, singalongable synthpop songs about life, the universe, and everything.

Check out our conversation below:

1 - How did you start the band?
TF: We met at a music festival, got on really well, and Damo offered me a slot at one
of his club nights.
DD: I didn’t actually thing he would take me up on the offer, but he did, and he was
actually pretty awesome.
TF: We started doing remixes and mashups in my studio during the week to play out
on a weekend, and then progressed to making our own music.
DD: That’s how Non Stop Erotic Cabaret came to be.

2 - Can the current moment be considered the best of the band?
DD: Every day, in every way, we are getting better and better.
TF: The more we work together, the better our tracks become, and this year,
because of the pandemic, we have had plenty of time to work on new tracks due to
the lack of opportunities to play live.
DD: We’ve written and recorded around 30 ne tracks since March, which has to be
some kind of world record.
TF: We are also working on new visuals for our live shows, and a huge interactive
robot called Marvin who will hopefully join us on stage next year.
DD: If we can work out a way to get him out of Timmy’s basement.

3 - Who are your biggest influences?
TF: I have been influenced by a lot of the Manchester indie rock bands like Happy
Mondays and New Order, whilst Damo prefers pop music like OMD and Prince.
DD: We do have very different tastes and influences, but the name of our band is the
title of the only album we both own: Non Stop Erotic Cabaret by Soft Cell.
TF: They are still one of the greatest synthpop bands ever created, and they came
from Leeds, which is where we both living and working when we first met.
DD: Our music is a combination of all the things that we love: drum machines, fat
analogue synth sounds overlaid with thoughtful vocals which explore the human
condition in all its magnificence. What more could you possible want?

4 - Speaking of creation process, how much thought is there before creating
new material? Is there a plan or do you let ideas flow naturally?
TF: Despite living just up the road from one another, we work separately in our own
studios, and then bounce ideas back and forth via the internet until they are finished.
DD: Then we upload the demos to SoundCloud to gauge audience reaction:
TF: The process is very organic, and no ideas are off limits. We just do what we want
to do, when we want to do it, and how we want to do it.
DD: There’s no great master plan, we just have fun with our music, which is exactly
the way we like it.

5 - Have you ever thought of playing here in South America? Audiences in Brazil are very passionate about music!
DD: We would like nothing more than to visit South America, as we have heard so
many wonderful things about the passionate fans out there, but at the moment we
are not even allowed to visit Bradford, and that’s just a few miles down the road.
TF: Once the pandemic is in the past, playing at a festival in Brazil would be a dream
come true for us, but as we perform in space suits and helmets on stage, we might
struggle a bit with the heat.
DD: We could always just wear the helmets and thongs with our logo on the front.
TF: I’m game if you are. You know how I like dressing up.
DD: Then it’s settled… look out Brazil, Non Stop Erotic Cabaret are coming for ya!

6 - We know that the music market is no longer the same ... what does it take to stay fresh and relevant?
TF: We have made a lot of “cool” music over the years to try and please other
people, but with Non Stop Erotic Cabaret we just decided to please ourselves.
DD: The irony is, by loving what we do, and doing what we love, we have
inadvertently created music which everyone else seems to love too.
TF: But once again, there was no real plan. We just did what came naturally.

7 - Do you like the idea of releasing videos in lyric format?
TF: We tend to make use of a lot of old film footage in our videos rather than create
lyric videos, because we love the way they look and feel.
DD: We think of them like Duchamp’s readymade sculptures. We take something
designed for a particular purpose, and turn it into something extraordinary by
recontextualising it as a music video.
TF: You can check some of our videos out on our YouTube channel:
DD: Having said that, we’re not averse top doing lyric videos. A lot of thought goes
into the words, and it might be nice to do a full length lyric video at some point.
TF: We did create a short one to promote our current single, Connected...
DD: Available now on all major platforms!
TF: But if we can think of a new and innovative way to make a lyric video for our next
single, Mr. Moogie which is coming out early next year, we will certainly give it a go.

8 - We finish here, the space is yours...
TF: If people would like to find out more about us, all they have to do is Google
#nSECmUSIC, and they can become part of our #nSECnATION by joining us on

Facebook, Instagram or Twitter:

DD: People don’t really believe it’s really us managing our social media accounts,
but it is, and there has never been a better time to get to know us.
TF: Our message to the world is to keep safe, stay positive, get creative…
DD: …and get Connected.

Rock Vibrations Entrevista: Simple Radicals

English Version:

In partnership with Rogue PR we bring you one more interview, this time with the band Simple Radicals.

Check it out below:

1. How did you start the band?

I developed the concept and wrote the songs for the “New Revolution” album  (https://open.spotify.com/album/4rgBmqnv7h3p5gYPGjiXfU) and began laying down the construct of the songs in the studio such as the rhythms, lead beds, drums and vocal tracks.

I reached out to John Griffin who I played in a band with a few years ago and asked if he would listen to the tracks and consider laying down the leads. He loved the tracks and laid down some incredible shreds and the rest is history.

We brought on James Page on bass and Griff Johnson on drums and The Simple Radicals were formed.

2. Can the current moment be considered the best of the band?

There’s no doubt we’re operating on all cylinders right now.

I think we’re producing some really good material and we’re having a ton of fun at the same time. But we’re always eager to get even better.

3. What would you say about sonority? Where else do you fit into the acquired influences?

Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam is my musical hero.

I’m mesmerized with his writing and try to capture the messaging, passion and energy that he does in his songs.

If I can even come within a million miles of that I’d consider it a success. Other bands that have influenced me over the years include Tom Petty, Foo Fighters, Cheap Trick, Pink Floyd, and Green Day.

4.  Speaking of creation process, how much thought is there before creating new material? Is there a plan or do you let ideas flow naturally?

I see a lot of images and moods when I write. Certain chord progressions, finger pickings and riffs often direct me on how the song is constructed and then the lyrics start to flow. It’s a bizarre process but it works for me. I actually write a lot of my songs on an acoustic guitar.

Even riffs such as the songs “New Revolution” (https://open.spotify.com/track/3tgJ0WU69S4ftsyI96IqM4) and “Medicate”  (https://open.spotify.com/track/19F4GLlRe2JZCjpc5kvPQq

I feel that if it sounds good on an acoustic then it’s going to sound even better when it’s plugged in.

5. Have you ever thought of playing here in South America? Audiences in Brazil are very passionate about music!

We would absolutely LOVE the opportunity to play in South America. Rock and roll is a universal language, and nothing would be better than to share our music to our friends in Brazil.

6. We know that the music market is no longer the same ... what does it take to stay fresh and relevant?

The music industry today has incredible opportunities but also huge challenges. From an opportunity standpoint, with such advanced technology and portability, you can create some amazing music in your bedroom and even collaborate with people without having to be in the same room.

On the flip side, there’s thousands of songs being released on Spotify and other platforms every day so the ability to break out and get noticed is highly challenging.

You’re on your own to develop your sound, talent and audience and then you can try and make it. Tough times no doubt and it’s only for the diligent and resilient bands that want to really invest in their music and build an audience.

You constantly have to think and rethink what it takes to break out and get noticed.

7. Do you like the idea of releasing videos in lyric format?

We love doing videos. We released a lyrical video to the title track of our album New Revolution” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KY7cm3-1m7E) which has already racked up over 60,000 YouTube views and climbing.

We also just released a video to our song “Rich Man Wanna Be King” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehjT9RZdpe4) which provides a scathing lampoon on President Trump that just broke and is about to break 160,000 views.

A video to our song “Medicate” which features Vernon Reid from the band Living Colour on lead guitar https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHrwgBw7-S8

And a quarantine video to our song “Raise Hell” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lv27tYwKW98

We have another quarantine video to our song “The Optimist” that will be released soon.

8. We finish here, the space is yours ...

We’re a retro-rock and roll band that combines sounds and styles from some of our favorite classic rock bands like Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Green Day and Cheap Trick.

If you like those bands then I think you will like our sound. You can check us out on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/album/4rgBmqnv7h3p5gYPGjiXfU and YouTube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2rmuHn02XI1CIphHvmh-Vg and follow us on http://facebook.com/thesimpleradicalshttp://twitter.com/simpleradicals, and http://instagram.com/simpleradicals.

And please stay safe. Stay healthy. And stay Radical.

Rock Vibrations Entrevista: Ghosts Of Sunset

Ele tinha a música do nosso primeiro single “Miles In-Between” para mim no primeiro dia.

Embora o referido “hair metal” seja óbvio, nunca iremos discriminar.

Cara a cara sempre será onde a verdadeira magia acontece.

English Version:

In partnership with Rogue PR we bring you, reader, another exclusive interview, this time with the band Ghosts Of Sunset.

Check it out below:

1 - How did you start the band?
Todd Long and I have been writing, recording, and playing together for over 30 years. Ghosts of Sunset is the result of an idea I had for a concept EP based on a fictional 1980s “hair band”.

Todd and I share that music in common so once I shared the idea with him we were off and running. He had the music to our first single “Miles In-Between” to me the first day.

2 - Can the current moment be considered the best of the band?
We're very excited about what's happened so far, but really we're navigating some difficult times world-wide right now.

I think the future will hold even more for us.

3 - What would you say about sonority?Where else do you fit into the acquired influences?
I would say the tonality of our music definitely has its roots in the 1980s “hair metal”/hard rock scene. We made some sonic choices that were very specific to the genre and helped create the atmosphere we were looking for.

Our influences are always front and center in our music. While the aforementioned “hair metal” is obvious, we will never descriminate. A good song is a good song.

That can be everything from classics like the Beatles and Stones, to 80s pop and new wave, to current charting music. If it's good, it'll show up somewhere.

4 - Speaking of creation process, how much thought is there before creating new material? Is there a plan or do you let ideas flow naturally?
Musically we start with a musical riff or idea and let that start to guide the over all sonority of the song.

When we get into storyline and  lyrics, we get very specific in how we tell the story and allow the music to support that.

5 - Have you ever thought of playing here in South America? Audiences in Brazil are very passionate about music!
Are you kidding? We're American rock n roll fans that were brought up on videos of our heroes playing “Rock in Rio”.

If South America will have us, we'd love to come down and talk share some rock n roll with Brazilian audiences.

6 - We know that the music market is no longer the same ... what does it take to stay fresh and relevant?
I think the ability to stay fluid. If you're stuck in a mindset that tells you the way you've always done it is the only way, you're in trouble.

7 - Do you like the idea of releasing videos in lyric format?
I think any way we can share music with people we're happy to do it. Face to face will always be where true magic happens. That exchange of space and energy is incredibly important.

8 - We finish here, the space is yours…
Thank you for talking to us.

Stay safe, sane, and strong in South America, if we find a way, we'll drop by for a visit soon!

Bandas como Alice In Chains, Deftones, Bring me the Horizon, Meshuggah, Nine inch Nails e muitas outras influenciaram profundamente a composição de nossas músicas nos últimos anos.

Obrigado novamente pessoal! Se cuida

English Version:

In partnership with Rogue PR we bring you one more interview, this time with the band Søndag.

Check it out below:

1 - How did you start the band?
Hello guys!
We started Søndag back in 2014, after breaking up our previous band “Edema”.

Edema was an extreme metal band formed by ¾ of the current Søndag line up, after many years of activity we decided to close the project and open the Søndag chapter.

With Søndag we wanted to create a unique sound lead by a “low-tuned” string section (8 strings, bass VI guitars), shifting the extreme metal sound to a more rock one compared to Edema.

With almost 6 years of activity now, we released 2 Full lengths, 1 Ep and 3 singles, promoting them with many European tours.

2 - Can the current moment be considered the best of the band?
We hope to think it is one of our best moments, yes.
The only thing is that we are living in a problematic situation with all this pandemic going on, and this is blocking all of the live shows, which represents obviously a huge limit to the promotion of our new music.

3 - What would you say about sonority? Where else do you fit into the acquired influences?
We try to think outside the box and write simply what comes through our minds, without be forced into “genres” boundaries.

Anyways, our background is surely marked with rock / metal influences.

Bands like Alice in chains, Deftones, Bring me the horizon, Meshuggah, Nine inch nails and many more have influenced deeply our song writing in the past years.

4 - Speaking of creation process, how much thought is there before creating new material? Is there a plan or do you let ideas flow naturally?
Well, every time we force ourselves to write new music nothing good comes out of it.

There are months in which we are more inspired and ideas spontaneously come to us.

5 - Have you ever thought of playing here in South America? Audiences in Brazil are very passionate about music!
Needless to say we would LOVE to come in South America!
We toured Europe with a Brazilian band some years ago and we spent awesome times with them.

Unfortunately, organizing a tour so far from our homes takes a lot of efforts, time and mostly money (yup, that sucks), beside the fact that right now is quite impossible to play shows around because of the pandemic thing going on.

But hey, sooner or later we’d really love to come and play there!

6 - We know that the music market is no longer the same ... what does it take to stay fresh and relevant?
Yup, the music market is constantly changing its and remaining updated about it’s trends and mechanisms it’s a full time job.

Right now the attention is focused on having a “fresh” social media strategy: many videos, stories, photos, release many contents etc..

But I haven’t got the magic formula for worldwide success I’m afraid, I wish I had.. but I haven’t.

7 - Do you like the idea of releasing videos in lyric format?
I have always looked at lyric videos as they were the “little brothers” of the usual videoclips, but in the last year I’ve changed opinion about them.

A lyric video can be an awesome content, because it can carry the aesthetic of a “regular” videoclip, implementing it with the lyrics in overlay, which helps the viewer to get more involved into the concept of the song itself.

8 - We finish here, the space is yours ...
Thank you so much for giving this space to us, we really appreciated it!

Take a look to our last single “Titans” here:

Thanks again guys!
Take care,
Marcello

Rock Vibrations Entrevista: BlackJack Love

English Version:

In partnership with Rogue PR we bring you one more interview, this time with the band BlackJack.

Check it out below:

1 - How did you start the band?

Blackjack Love has been around for a few years now, but I was on my own in the beginning (Azza). Since I recruited the other boys (Matt, Sam & Nick) it’s been live for a year or two now. It all stemmed from myself recording a song in LA, then I came back to England & wrote a couple more.

That then ended up being the debut album ‘Bullets & Blues’, & it all went from there really.

2 - Can the current moment be considered the best of the band?

Other than the current climate around the world, I’d say yea. We’re gaining more fans, writing more songs, playing more shoes. Life’s pretty good.

3 - What would you say about sonority? Where else do you fit into the acquired influences?

I’d say we have that old Led Zeppelin riff vibe with a modern twist of desert/stoner rock.

4 - Speaking of creation process, how much thought is there before creating new material? Is there a plan or do you let ideas flow naturally?

I usually start with by noodling on an acoustic guitar. I use a lot of weird/open tunings & just jam shit out. Then I’ll put random words together to decide on a melody & it all falls from there really.

Most of what I write, I have no idea what I’m writing about until I read it back & go “ah that’s clearly about.....” I can’t sit down & force myself to write about anything in particular.

Nine out of ten times I just write & see what comes. A lot of them a made up stories, some about love, anger, whatever comes to fruition. If it’s any good, I’ll do a quick recording of it on my phone & send it to the boys.

If they dig it then I’ll finish it or whatever. Then we get to the practice room & hash it out between us.

I usually have some sort of idea in my head when writing a song for certain instruments or patterns, but the boys then take this tiny idea I have & put their own spin on it to make it epic.

5 - Have you ever thought of playing here in South America? Audiences in Brazil are very passionate about music!

We would love to play in South America! That would be so fucking cool man honestly! If you find us a gig, we’ll be there!

6 - We know that the music market is no longer the same ... what does it take to stay fresh and relevant?

Y’know, I think you just gotta do you. Music is always in cycles, like fashion or art. I think proper songwriters & musicians will always be relevant, whatever comes. Expanding your sound is always a good thing to do, try new instruments.

Try a different approach to how you write. You never know, it could work out well.

7 - Do you like the idea of releasing videos in lyric format?

As a band, personally, no. However, from a fans point of view I think it’s a good idea, especially as fewer & fewer people buy albums with all the words in the artwork.

So it can help to get people singing your stuff.

8 - We finish here, the space is yours ...

Firstly, thanks for having us! We appreciate it! Secondly, check us out on YouTube, Facebook etc.

You can download &/or stream our music on all major platforms & the like.

Stay cool x

Boneyard: Oathbreaker - Review

Its production is very good, it shows the listener that everything is very well executed, well-known tones and that you will quickly become addicted, just like that band that is always on the radio, making their daily playlists, presenting female vocals with good pleasure, as well as cohesive instruments.

Listen without fear, the songs are great, the riffs addictive, vocals with very pleasant tones ... deserve your attention completely, a very good debut and that promises a career full of great moments.

Rock Vibrations Entrevista: Boneyard

English Version:

In partnership with Rogue PR we bring you a new interview.

This time, we spoke to the band Boneyard and you can check it out below:

1 - How did you start the band?
In 2015, after my all girl Misfits tribute band broke up I wanted to start a new cover band. Most of the other cover bands around here played mostly classic rock.

I wanted something heavier, so I put together a set list of a bit deeper cuts of bands we all love (Priest, Maiden, WASP, Mötley Crüe, etc). As far as finding players, some of my previous projects have included drummer Jeff Cunningham, and bassist Dennis Cooke auditioned for Boneyard about four years ago.

We played many shows up until 2017, at which point we decided to move the band in a n all original direction.

2 - Can the current moment be considered the best of the band?
Absolutely! We are elated to have our album finally released after a long Covid delay. Especially seeing the positive feedback through fans, reviews and press from all over the world.

3 - What would you say about sonority? Where else do you fit into the acquired influences?
That is a big part of our style of music, with clean, melodic, powerful vocals. You will not be hearing any guttural vocals from Boneyard! Our style is a reflection of our influences and my favorite singers (Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson, Ian Gillan, etc).

4 - Speaking of the creation process, how much thought is there before creating new material? Is there a plan or do you let ideas flow naturally?
It all starts with the riff! We first try to think of good riffs to use, then arrange the various complementary parts into new songs. Occasionally, we may change things up.

For example, after writing a few mid-tempo songs, we'll plan to write something faster and heavier.
Though most of the time the ideas do flow naturally.

5 - Have you ever thought of playing here in South America? Audiences in Brazil are very passionate about music!
I agree 100% For proof, just watch the live concert DVDs: Iron Maiden Rock In Rio and Rush In Rio. It is amazing when the fans sing, not just the vocal lines, but the guitar melodies! We would love the opportunity to play, and visit there.

6 - We know that the music market is no longer the same. What does it take to stay fresh and relevant?
The number one thing is to give your band an online presence, with frequent updates. This has to include quality music, videos, photos and other content.

You have to stay in the public eye, especially nowadays with people's short attention spans and distractions.

7 - Do you like the idea of releasing videos in lyric format?
Yes, it gives bands a chance to create something themselves without the cost of a big budget music video. However, a lot of them are, quite frankly, pretty boring.

Our lyric video to the first single, Fates Warning, is a hybrid lyric and performance video that I produced. I'm really proud of it. We've received nothing but praise and positive feedback on the finished product.

Rock Vibrations Entrevista: Corpulent Provocateur

English Version:

In partnership with Rogue PR, we will bring one more interview for you, reader.

Check out the conversation below with the band Corpulent Provocateur:

1 - How did you start the band?

From the beginning, it was simply a matter of satisfying the need to get the musical energy from jamming. When we noticed that it could all make sense, we decided that we were a band. So the whole start was very natural.

2 - Can the current moment be considered the best of the band?

No way. For us, live performance is the most important, so the current moment is actually the worst. We are now perfectly musically „in tune“ and the feeling that we can't play live somewhere literally psychically destroys us.

We've done a lot of work in the last year and a half and now everything is in limbo. On the other hand, there are a lot of musicians who are financially dependent on it in much worse situations, so we don't want to complain that much.

Thanks to our regular jobs, we have something to eat so what the hell.

3 - What would you say about sonority? Where else do you fit into the acquired influences

In fact, we do not deal with this in depth. We make the music as it comes. It either works or it doesn't. If not, there's no point in dealing with it anymore.

4 - Speaking of creation process, how much thought is there before creating new material? Is there a plan or do you let ideas flow naturally?

It almost always goes the natural way. If the idea presented to the rest of the band succeeds, we will start working on it. These ideas occur randomly. We cannot say that we were trying to force them in any way.

Nobody is pressuring us to make new songs and that is important.

5 - Have you ever thought of playing here in South America? Audiences in Brazil are very passionate about music!

We would definitely like to come and play in South America. When possible, we would like to go play around the world. Especially in Brazil, it would be great, because as you write, we think that those concerts would really have a lot of energy thanks to the audience.

6 - We know that the music market is no longer the same ... what does it take to stay fresh and relevant?

It's all some natural evolution. There is no point in fighting it. It is necessary to accept it and learn to move in it.

There is a lot of extra work to be done. It used to be all about music. Now there are a lot of efforts in other areas. And sometimes it takes too much time and the interpreters do not have much time to deal with the music itself.

But that's just the way it is.

7 - Do you like the idea of releasing videos in lyric format?

We try to be different from others when creating music videos. So we're not making lyrics videos yet. But we are not fundamentally against it.

If we publish any, we will again want it not to be the classic lyrics video that most artists use.

8 - We finish here, the space is yours ...

If this space is used for a message to readers, then we must advise them to hear some of our music, because if it all goes well, we become good friends that way.

Music connects people. So, try to connect with us.

It may be a good connection.

Rock Vibrations Entrevista: Eternal Closure

Confira abaixo:

Absolutamente. “Color of Our Fears: Rediscovered” é um lançamento mais forte do que “Screaming in Silence”.

Confira nosso vídeo “The Slave or the Owner”, é uma faixa muito intensa. E se você curtir isso, verifique nosso lançamento recente, “Color of Our Fears: Rediscovered”.

English Version:

In partnership with Rogue PR we bring you another new interview on our pages.

This time we spoke with the band Eternal Closure.

Check it out below:

1 - How did you start the band?
Pretty typical situation really. Friends playing together for fun. It just evolved naturally into a serious project as time went on.

2 - Can the current moment be considered the best of the band?
Absolutely. “Color of Our Fears: Rediscovered” is a stronger release than “Screaming in Silence”. It's more focused and confident. Our recent changes in personnel also bring a lot of new elements to the sound.
I (Olivier) don't see how our next release won't be our best.

3 - What would you say about sonority? Where else do you fit into the acquired influences?
We blend many sounds you've heard before but in a way that's our own. There's old-school thrash riffs, modern djenty/metalcore stuff and Dream Theater/Haken-style moments with a blend of Female/Male vocals on top of it all. It's familiar but it's not generic or safe.

4 - Speaking of creation process, how much thought is there before creating new material? Is there a plan or do you let ideas flow naturally?
It tends to flow a bit more naturally for me. After a couple songs have been written, I then have an idea of where things are going. I then try to make sure that each track is different enough as to not create redundant filler.

It's a bit more of a team effort on the new stuff, and I genuinely think it brings the material to another level.

5 - Have you ever thought of playing here in South America? Audiences in Brazil are very passionate about music!
Of course. When the whole pandemic situation is done, we'd be ready to play everywhere really haha!

I know Brazil has a lot of metalheads, and a show there would be insane.

6 - We know that the music market is no longer the same ... what does it take to stay fresh and relevant?
Not trying to just mirror what everyone else is doing. It's the worst thing you can do if you want any success. Nobody remembers these bands after a while, and it's our job to avoid that as much as possible.

Also having something that makes people remember you when you play live or interact on social media.
We're kinda goofy and that's the stuff that people seem to interact with the most.

7 - Do you like the idea of releasing videos in lyric format?
It's a great format and I enjoy it very much. However, it ultimately makes the songs worse when you're focusing on the lyrics and they kinda suck.

Again, the solution is just to try and write good lyrics that are honest and have something to say.
It makes the song even better.

8 - We finish here, the space is yours …
Please check out our video for “The Slave or the Owner”, it's a great intense track. And if you dig that, check out our recent release, “Color of Our Fears: Rediscovered”.

It's the original album with our old vocalist but with 3 tracks that Maggy re-recorded.

It gives a little taste of what's to come and I can't wait!
Thanks for having us!

Rock Vibrations Entrevista: Pressure

English Version:

In partnership with Rogue PR we bring you another new interview on our pages.

This time we spoke with the band Pressure.

Check out:

1 - How did you start the band?
It all started years ago when Simon became Emil’s guitar teacher. They pretty fast found each other and started playing in a cover band together with different constellations and a lot of different gigs.

After a few years they got tired of playing covers and started rearranging and rewrite and translate the lyrics of a lot of known and popular rock/pop songs to spice things up.

By this time, they realised that they also wanted a lead singer and they found me Olof.

When I joined the band we first worked with Simons and Emil’s rewritten covers. But pretty fast we did our first own song, and as soon we started walking that path there was no going back.

No more covers. It has taken us about 1-1,5 years to find our sound. We are really proud of it and will probably keep working and develop our sound as time goes on.

2 - Can the current moment be considered the best of the band?
Yes, I think so, we evolve every day and so much have happen since we first met 2,5 years ago. If you ask me the same question in 3 years, I believe you would get the same answer. We constantly grow and evolving.

3 - What would you say about sonority?Where else do you fit into the acquired influences?
I really think it a mix, if you take the Vocals from  Rammstein or Volbeat, and the backing vocals from Queen or Aerosmtih mix it with the guitars of Bon Jovi, Guns ´n Roses and Mötley Crüe and add the drums of DIO or Whitesnake and the lyrics of Skid Row or Bob Dylan and add the bass of Metallica or Korn, and finally add a little bit folk music into that mix

4 - Speaking of creation process, how much thought is there before creating new material? Is there a plan or do you let ideas flow naturally?
The only plan we got is to tell self-experienced stories. If not from one of us, from a friend. Most of our songs are about different kinds of pressure.

Many times, good and/or bad depending on how the listener interpret the song. We put a lot of work into our lyrics. Besides from that, we let our ideas flow naturally. Same thing when we do a live gig.

We never play the songs/solos exactly the same as last time. We are always in the moment and then you have to be able to improvise a little bit.

You will of cause recognise the song and be able to sing along, but it will probably have a little different touch each time we do the song.

5 - Have you ever thought of playing here in South America? Audiences in Brazil are very passionate about music!
If there are people who are passionate about, and like our music and corona can settle down, we will go wherever our fans are.

6 - We know that the music market is no longer the same ... what does it take to stay fresh and relevant?
Passion, hard work, more passion and more hard work.

I think it’s important to write and make the music you want to make, not to write your music to “fit the market”, then you will lose the soul in your work.

Have influences? Yes, but create your own sound and work.

7 - Do you like the idea of releasing videos in lyric format?
Yes, since we put a lot of work into our lyrics and think they are really important for our music its always good to have a lyric video.

8 - We finish here, the space is yours ...
We are a really young band (not the members, we are old he he) that has just started our journey. We are working hard as many others right now and before us have done.

We do what we do with passion and hope you feel that when you listen to our music.

We have released 5 singles this year (2020) two of them with an English version and a Swedish version.

Next year will release a few more singles, a full album.
And an EP in German.

You can listen to us at almost all streaming services.
If you do like us, please don’t forget to subscribe.

Especially to our YouTube channel, there will happen ha lot of things in the future.

Put a smile on your faces.

Arya: For Ever - Review

English Version:

We recently interviewed the Italian band Arya and soon I was struck by their modern, experimental musicality, going to some sides of Sludge Metal, in addition to containing ideas in creative melodies that we don't see easily in any band.

In "For Ever", his last album released in October of this year 2020, we see the continuation of his characteristics of the last years, as well as his unique way of composing, being melodic and dense at times, dark when they need to and energetic at the point ideal.

The vocals flirt very well between the accessible pop side and the alternative metal, going for a totally experimental vibe, making the most open minds be aware quickly, a real trip.

In your production we see good evidence of what I mentioned above, different riffs and musical times, tunings that make your mind feel relaxing doses of interesting ideas, almost something atmospheric, psychedelic, in addition to good progressive doses.

I found the band's proposal very cool, their instrumental is cohesive, it sounds like an independent band that seeks to take their music to the world without fear of judgments or standards, which is very good, because that makes them something original, unique and dynamic, they are very competent and are worth your hearing, without a doubt, but have an open mind to understand all of this.

Start with the great "Thymian" or the energetic "Flares" to get an idea of what to find here, but if you want to relax completely, check out "Survivor Syndrome".

Rock Vibrations Entrevista: Arya

English Version:

In partnership with Rogue PR we bring you another new interview on our pages.

This time we spoke with the band Arya.

Check it out below:

1 - How did you start the band?
Arya started out from a bunch of songs I had recorded just after finishing a music production course in a studio, in 2014.

The quality of the recordings was quite terrible anyway but, as I felt the other members of my old band would have never accepted my growing metal influences, and finding myself in a really bad moment in my life, I decided to try and find people to create a new band.

I met Simone at a lecture in the music school we both used to attend, I sent him the songs and asked him if he wanted to make music with me, while Ale was the drummer of our very first band when we were just teenagers, and joined the band later.

Our local music scene (Rimini, East coast of Italy) is quite small, so we pretty much all know each other, which becomes a problem when you need a new band member.

The history of the band has been really troubled, with many line-up changes and really tragic turns of events, but despite that (but probably even thanks to that) we’ve managed to release four albums and an EP since 2015, touching many different genres of music.

We’ve played shows in many regions of Italy, as well as Switzerland, Austria and the San Marino Republic.

2 - Can the current moment be considered the best of the band?
Probably not: we’re still looking for a new bassist and we’re having troubles meeting each other due to our work commitments and the fact I have to be in Rome, four hours away from our hometown of Rimini, for most of the week.

A world-sized pandemic has been taking place for most of the year, preventing us to book mid-term concerts.

Nonetheless, despite all these difficulties, during last summer we managed to complete our upcoming fourth album For Ever, which will be released on October 20.

I really hope it will bring many new fans to the band so that, once we can start playing live again, everything will be easier for us, and we can work together in a positive mood we really would need right now.

3 - What would you say about sonority? Where else do you fit into the acquired influences?
Our music has always originated from the contamination of many different genres. Each one of us has always brought his own taste and references to the songwriting process.

In the beginning we started as a wannabe “djent” band influenced by bands such as Tesseract and Periphery, but almost immediately we started incorporating elements from sludge, black metal, hardcore but also jazz, shoegaze and indie rock.

Among the bands that have continued to inspire our music as years and members went by and despite the evolution of our tastes I could name Karnivool, The Contorsionist and Deafheaven.

4 - Speaking of creation process, how much thought is there before creating new material? Is there a plan or do you let ideas flow naturally?
The way we’ve mainly worked so far on new songs begins with an idea, short or more articulated, that me or Simone bring to the table as a demo recording, usually a single guitar part.

Then we try to expand that to make it a full song, and all the band members create their parts around it, on their own or together in the rehearsal room. I’m usually the one that works the most on the structure of the song, bringing simple ideas together into something coherent that flows and evolves well.

For the new album, which has been composed entirely just by me and Simone, we worked a lot together in a room, recording ourselves, swapping, overlapping or cutting parts and trying things. For the first time we had an almost complete demo version of almost all our parts before recording them “officially”: before it was common for some of us to create their parts on the spot while we were recording the album.

There are still two songs that were more or less “improvised” on the spot during the recording sessions.

5 - Have you ever thought of playing here in South America? Audiences in Brazil are very passionate about music!
Well, if we ever got the opportunity to do so in a financially viable way, I think it would be a fantastic experience!
I think the problem is always money: touring is really expensive, South America is huge and there are relatively few cities where you could set up a concert, so one will have to move by plane.

There are also visas you have to pay for each country you’re playing into. I think that’s the main reason why usually only really big and hugely famous bands tour in South America, and they don’t do it very often either.

For us, a small and unknown band, it’s relatively easy to pack our stuff into a car and drive to another city, or even another European country (one can travel and work freely without any issues inside the EU). But flying to the other side of the Ocean would be a totally different story!

6 - We know that the music market is no longer the same... what does it take to stay fresh and relevant?
I don’t really like the direction the market is taking: for years now the money involved in the music business has been decreasing substantially, but almost all profits are condensed into three major record labels.

People used to say that the internet would have made music more democratic, but that’s the opposite. It has however made it much more sectorialized: anyone has instant access to any music he can think of thanks to streaming services, so you can create your own “bubble” of genres you like, and you will be fed more and more of that automatically, without being aware of what the people sitting next to you on the underground likes to listen to.

This, together with the “playlist way” of listening to music, in my opinion is making genres much more strictly codified while making the identity of the artist irrelevant, and being surprised by some kind of music you didn’t expect to like is becoming much more difficult.

Music that isn’t easily categorizable is doomed not to become popular, and this is a big problem for us, who always struggled to break the rules.

Meanwhile, the result of your hard work, a track that may have been conceived with a specific role inside an album, becomes just another generic element inside a set of similar items, your own personality as an artist hasn’t any importance.

7 - Do you like the idea of releasing videos in lyric format?
We’ve actually done it many times: for our 2018 album Endesires, I actually made a lyric video for each album track but one (that had a traditional music video instead).

Each track had a unique background video related in some way, explicit or hidden, to the topic of the lyrics.

They’re all still available on our Youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/c/aryaitaly).

I think it has been a good idea, because lyrics have a great importance on that album, and anyone who listens to a song can easily follow up with them.

For our upcoming album For Ever however we haven’t made any, shooting a more traditional video for most of the songs instead.

8 - We finish here, the space is yours…
We’ll be releasing a new album on October 20.
It’s called For Ever, and it’s the darkest and heaviest music we’ve done so far. It deals with the personal aftermath of the band falling apart after the release of our previous album Endesires.

We’re gradually releasing most of the songs on our Youtube channel and at https://werearya.bandcamp.com

However, if you’re a Spotify user, you can pre-save the album here in order to be notified when it’s out:  https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/aryaitaly/for-ever
